ABERDEEN, SD – Cayden Redfield wrapped up a sublime 3-game road trip for the University of Mary senior guard with the first double double of his career. Fellow senior Noah Thomas reached double digits in scoring for the Marauders as UMary was edged 71-63 at Northern State University.
 
In the last road game of his UMary career, Redfield scored 14 points and hauled down a career-high 10 rebounds. The Hardin, MT, native hit a pair of treys and two free throws. This was the third straight game Redfield had reached double figures in scoring, the longest string in his two seasons at UMary.
 
Thomas also hit a pair of treys on his way to 10 points and tied for the team lead in steals with two.
 
Amare Jackson just missed double digits as he scored nine points on a night when ten Marauders found their way into the scoring column.
 
For the third time in four games the Marauders finished on the plus side for rebounds, grabbing 41 boards to 34 for the Wolves. However Northern State hit 12 treys to eight for UMary, which entered the game leading the Northern Sun in 3-pointers per game with an average of ten a night.
 
Northern State shot 41.3% from the field, including a blistering 57.1% in the second half. UMary finished the game shooting 38.6% on field goals while making 11-of-13 free throws.
 
Joshua Book led the Wolves with 18 points, four treys and seven assists. James Glenn and Simon Akena both scored 13 points.
 
Down by six late in the first half, the Marauders ran off the final six points on a 3-pointer by Thomas, a layup by Jackson Ware and a Relja Nagulic free throw to enter intermission tied at 27-27.
 
Redfield hit a trey early in the second half to give the Marauders their only lead of the game at 31-30. The Wolves scored the next basket and would eventually lead by as many as 15 points. A 9-0 run for UMary featuring five points from Tshawn Bois closed the gap to 66-61 before the Wolves regained control.
 
The Marauders next return home to host I-94 rival University of Jamestown on Saturday, February 21. UMary will recognize its two seniors plus their alumni on the final day of the season. Game time is 4 pm on Al Bortke Court at the University of Mary's McDowell Activity Center.
 
A recognition ceremony for Marauders seniors Cayden Redfield and Noah Thomas will be held at halftime of the UMary-Jamestown women's basketball game, which starts at 2 pm.
