THIS WEEK
For just the second time this season the University of Mary men's basketball teams will face opponents from the South division of the Northern Sun when the Marauders visit Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State University on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14. The Marauders first swing by Gangelhoff Center on Friday at 8 pm to tangle with the Golden Bears. Mary then takes on the Mavericks on Saturday at 6 pm at the Taylor Center.
RADIO CHANGE FOR JAN. 14
Marauders fans need to make a slight adjustment to their radios to hear the Mary men's and women's basketball game on Jan. 14. Instead of the Marauders home on Fox Sports 710, fans must tune to KFYR 550 AM to hear Rick Anthony call the contests.
THE RECORD
The Marauders are 5-11 overall and 3-7 against Northern Sun foes. Mary is 11th overall in the NSIC and fifth in the NSIC North.

A very young team, CSP has just two upperclassmen and both are new to the program. Four freshmen and a sophomore have formed the recent starting lineup.
Bryndan Matthews is is sixth in the NSIC in rebounds (7.2/game) and in shooting percentage (.523). The sophomore guard averages a team-high 14.5 PPG and is shooting 52.3 percent from the field.
Matt Ambriz leads the NSIC in 3-point field goal percentage (.551) and is eighth in the league with 2.7 treys/game
 Head coach Joey James is in his 3rd season at CSP. He has a career-record of 36-40 with the Golden Bears. Including a year as the South Dakota head coach James has a career record of 48-58. Â

The Marauders snapped a 6-game losing streak to the Golden Bears with a win in the NSIC playoffs last spring
The two teams have faced each other in the first round of the NSIC tournament the last two years. CSP won the first meeting 78-65 on 2.21.15. The Marauders won last year 76-72.

The Marauders broke their losing streak to the Golden Bears with an 83-74 win at the NSIC Holiday HoopsFest on 11.29.09, soon followed with a 75-68 win at the MAC on 1.23.10 behind 24 points by Eric Erdmann. It was the first NSIC win for Mary over CSP.

LAST MEETING: Mary defeated Concordia-St. Paul 76-72 at home in the opening round of the NSIC tournament on Feb. 24 before a packed house. The Marauders built a 73-60 lead before the Golden Bears went on a 10-0 run to pull within three points.
Marquealis Edwards then hit two free throws to secure the game for Mary. Edwards led the home team with 16 points, six assists and three steals.

REWIND
Playing at home for the first time in a month, the Marauders opened the weekend with an 83-60 loss to Northern State.
Isaac Lindquist scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Marauders and Fr. G
Jaylan White added 13, also a career-best. Down just 36-32 at intermission, the Marauders shot just 32 percent in the second half. The Wolves used a 17-3 run to pull away. Logan Doyle scored 17 for NSU and earned NSIC Player of the Week honors. The Marauders played another excellent first half on Saturday against NSIC-leading MSU Moorhead before falling 84-69. After 18 lead changes, the game was tied at 41-41 at intermission. The Dragons used a 17-0 run to pull away early in the second half.

Bryan Jefferson has joined an exclusive club in Marauders history after cracking the 1,000 point and 500 rebound barrier. The 17th Marauder with 1,000 points, only seven Mary players have 500 rebounds. Additionally, the Aurora, IL, native is the 5th player in school history to crack both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. The others are Roger Klemisch (1,465 points and 782 rebounds), Jerome Nichols (1,366 and 707), Rory Entzi (1,870 and 609) and Eric Erdmann (1,642 and 603).
Jefferson is currently 14th all-time with 1,059 points. Just ahead is Anthony Moody with 1,126 points. Scott Kleinjan is the Marauders all-time scoring leader with 2,268.
Jefferson is 7th all-time in rebounding with 515. Next on the list is Dave Hanson (553). Roger Klemisch is the all-time Marauders rebounding leader with 782.

Rickey Suggs has made a recent move into the starting lineup. Twice in three starts the Woodbury, MN, native has scored a career-high 17 points. Suggs is now 3rd on the team with 9.8 PPG, second in rebounds at 4.1/game, the squad leader in field goal percentage (.520) and fourth in steals with 13.

Erron Collins earned his first carer starts for the Marauders against Northern State and MSU Moorhead. He hit a trey against both the Dragons and the Wolves and has scored in 11 of 16 games this year.

TURNOVERS
Feeding off its penchant to steal the ball from its opponents, Mary leads the NSIC in turnover margin. The Marauders are +3.50 per game, committing 10.4 turnovers/game while forcing 13.9. After suffering a -2 in turnover margin in the season opener, the Marauders turned the ball over fewer times than their opponents in eight straight games, including a +3 mark against NCAA Division I and Big Ten member Nebraska. For the season the Marauders have held the turnover edge in ten games with one draw while opponents have held the edge five times. Â
HIGH POINTS
Opposite ends of the spectrum on both experience and height, Sr. C Issac Lindquist and Fr. G
Jaylan White both posted career-highs for points against Northern State. The 6-9 Lindquist scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The 5-10 White hit all seven of his free throws and scored 13 points against the Wolves... White followed up with seven points against MSU Moorhead. Of his 44 career points, 20 came in two games last weekend.
HELPING HAND
Senior guard
Pat Thomas is 8th in the NSIC in assists per game at 3.8. He missed the Marauders NCAA-era school single game assist record by one as his passes directly led to 10 baskets for Mary against Yellowstone Christian. Thomas also added 10 points against the Centurions for the first Marauders double double of the season. After redshirting last season following his transfer to Mary from Lake Region State, Thomas is averaging a team-high 1.3 steals/game. The native of South Australia is also averaging 4.0 rebounds.
THE BORTKE COURT MAC ATTACK
After struggling at home the last few seasons, Mary is once again finding success at the McDowell Activity Center (MAC).
