DICKINSON, N.D. – Dominant team efforts in both the long jump and the high jump highlighted the University of Mary men's track & field team performance at the Blue Hawk Games hosted by Dickinson State University. The Marauders swept the top three spots in both the long and high jumps and two U-Mary standouts had both a title and a runner-up finish on the day.
Corey Berner posted the top time in the 100 meter dash at the Blue Hawks Open. The sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, posted a time of 11.27 second, winning the event by .05 seconds. He later came back to run the 200 meters in 21.97 seconds, taking second overall.
The Marauders dominated the high jump, taking the top three spots. Seniors
Dustin Rueb and
Joe Berger and freshman
Jack Lamb all cleared 1.91 meters to tie for the best height of the day. Tiebreaking rules then placed Rueb (Beulah, N.D.) first, Berger (Mandan. N.D.) second and Lamb (Sedalia, Calif.) third.
U-Mary also snared the top three slots in the long jump. Freshman
Luxon Glor (Winnipeg, Manitoba) claimed first with a top effort of 7.12 meters. Fellow freshman
Riley Miller (Minot, N.D.) was the runner-up with a mark of 7.03 meters. Rueb, who won the high jump, then placed third in the long jump in a distance of 6.95 meters.
Glor would also capture second in the triple jump, covering 14.38 meters on his best effort.
Senior
Nathan Inkman (Oroville, Califfornia) ran a strong race in the 1,500 meter run, capturing second overall in 4:07.06.
Aaron Cebulla placed third in the 400 meter hurdles. The junior from Kalispell, Montana, cleared the barriers in 57.33 seconds.
In the javelin,
Ben Gailfus captured second. The senior from Detroit Lakes, Minn., unleashed a toss of 50.39 meters on his first attempt of the day.
