BEMIDJI, Minn. - Featuring a pair of double-winners, the 16
th ranked University of Mary women's indoor track & field team registered eight wins and five NCAA provisional qualifying marks as the Marauders made their final preparations before defending their Northern Sun title.
A pair of Marauders All-Americans, sophomore
Tonie-Ann Pandohie and senior
Faith Kjelstrup, both garnered two wins on the day to pace U-Mary.
Pandohie won the 60 meter hurdles in a provisional qualifying time of 8.69 seconds in the finals. The Kingston, Jamaica, native was even faster in the preliminaries, clearing the barriers in 8.64 seconds. Pandohie also won the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.42 seconds.
Kjelstrup won both a track and field event. She covered 60 meters in 7.89 seconds for one victory before sailing 37-04.00 in a triple jump win.
U-Mary's fifth win of the day was by All-American
Davina Carr. She claimed the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 12-10.00.
Senior
Molly McDonald and freshmen
Maria Bolibruch and
Jaiden Schuette all posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks on their way to second place finishes.
Fresh off a second place finish at the NSIC multi event championships, McDonald cleared the high jump bar with a career-best effort of 5-05.25.
Taking second behind Pandohie in the 60 meter hurdles was Bolibruch. The North Kingstown, R.I., native was clocked at 8.81 seconds.
Schuette, a Bismarck, N.D., native, registered her first career NCAA provisional clocking with an effort of 2:15.40 in the 800 meter times.
In the 400 meter dash, freshman
Chante Spotser ran a time of 58.03 to win the event, finishing ahead of teammate
Julia Hammerschmidt.
Kaycie Stewart claimed the one mile title with a clocking of 5:23.43 and
Katelynn Engh finished atop the board in the 3,000 meter run at 10:33.85.
U-Mary next competes in Northern Sun championships on Feb. 26-27. The Marauders, who are seeking their second straight title, have won four NSIC championships in five years and six in nine.
