THIS WEEK
The first Northern Sun weekend home doubleheader of the season for the University of Mary men's basketball teams, the Marauders also face NSIC South Division squads for the first time when the Wayne State College Wildcats and the defending NCAA national champions and #21/10 Augustana Vikings visit the McDowell Activity Center this weekend. The Marauders first tangle with the Wildcats at 8 pm on Friday, Dec. 9, before taking on the Vikings on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 pm.
THE RECORD
After splitting a Northern Sun road doubleheader last weekend and winning a midweek non-conference home game, the University of Mary is 4-5 overall and 2-1 in league play.
LAST TIME OUT
After opening last weekend with an 82-66 loss at MSU Moorhead, the Marauders rebounded with a 77-75 win at Northern State before defeating Peru State 96-78 at home on Wednesday in a game delayed a day by a blizzard.

Head coach Jeff Kaminsky is in his first year at Wayne State and is the 27th head coach in school history. He coached at Valley City State University for 11 seasons (183-144 record) and has over 450 wins in 29 years as a head coach.

Augie beat Concordia-St. Paul 103-66 and Minnesota State 83-81 last weekend at home
Sr. G Adam Beyer earned NSIC South Player of the Week honors after scoring 24 points against CSP and 22 against MSU, making 17-of-23 shots overall (5-of-6 on treys). It was the second time he was honored this season.
Head coach Tom Billeter is in his 14th season leading the Vikings and has a record of 254-144 at Augie. Overall in his 19th season as a head coach Billeter is 351-194. He led AU to a 65-5 record the last two seasons.

Mary opened the weekend with an 82-66 loss at MSU Moorhead. The Marauders shot under 39 percent for the game - including a 5-for-20 effort on 3-pointers - while the Dragons made 54.8 percent of their shots and opened the game on a 16-4 run.
Bryan Jefferson had 16 points and 14 rebounds for UM and
Trevor Zacher hit 4-of-8 treys and led the team with 17 points. Lien led the Dragons with 18 points, making 7-of-10 shots... The Marauders bounced back with a 77-75 win at Northern State, overcoming a 13 point deficit. Led by 14 points from
Rickey Suggs, the Mary bench outscored NSU's reserves 24-12.

Isaac Lindquist added 12 points. Mack Arvidson led NSU with 18 points, making 6-of-9 treys. Mary shot 52 percent for the game...Mary closed out its non-conference schedule with a 96-68 home win over Peru State. Tied 41-41 at half, the Marauders opened the second half on a 17-2 run.
Damonta Henry hit three treys during the second half spurt and was 4-of-6 behind the arc in the game. The senior guard scored a team-high 16 points.

Sr. forward
Bryan Jefferson cracked the 900 point barrier against Minot State on Nov. 26 and now has 949 points in his college career. He currently ranks 18th all-time at Mary in scoring and is just one of 24 Marauders to eclipse 900 points. Jefferson is on track to become the firs Marauders player to score over 1,000 points since Anthony Moody and Jordan Wilhelm hit quadruple digits in 2011. 16 Marauders have reached four digits in scoring, led by Scott Kleinjan with 2,268.

In addition to his scoring prowess,
Bryan Jefferson also cracked the all-time rebounding chart at Mary, becoming one of just 18 Marauders with at least 400 career rebounds. The senior forward is currently 11th with 463 lifetime boards. The Marauders all-time leader is Roger Klemisch    with 782 (   1971-75).

Feeding off its penchant to steal the ball from its opponents, Mary leads the NSIC in turnover margin. The Marauders are +5.5 per game, committing 10.6 turnovers/game while forcing 16.1. After suffering a -2 in turnover margin in the season opener, the Marauders have turned the ball over fewer times than their opponents in each of the last eight games, including a +3 mark against NCAA Division I and Big Ten member Nebraska.
BENCH BONUS
Outscored the first three games of the season, the Marauders bench has outscored the opposing bench in five of the last six games, including a 24-12 edge at Northern State and a 38-18 advantage against Peru State.

TRIPLE DOUBLE MISSES
Bryan Jefferson and
Pat Thomas both just missed triple doubles against Peru State. Jefferson had nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Thomas registered 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Senior guard
Pat Thomas is 3rd in the NSIC in assists per game at 4.4. He missed the Marauders NCAA-era school single game assist record by one as his passes directly led to 10 baskets for Mary against Yellowstone Christian. Thomas also added 10 points against the Centurions for the first Marauders double double of the season. After redshirting last season following his transfer to Mary from Lake Region State, Thomas is also averaging 1.1 steals/game.
PRESIDENTIAL
Senior all-NSIC forward
Bryan Jefferson gained his first double double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds at MSU Moorhead. His game the next night in a win at Northern State may have been better. Jefferson scored 17 points with six rebounds, five assists, two blocks, two steals and a 7-of-9 effort at the free throw line. Twice Jefferson has missed double doubles by a single rebound, against both Minot State and Southwest Baptist. The multi-talented player is 17th in the NSIC in scoring (14.7 PPG), 7th in rebounds (7.1/game) and 11th in steals (1.3/game)
INSTANT IMPACT
Continuing to come off the bench to provide the Marauders an immediate boost,
Rickey Suggs exceeded double digits in points in six of nine games this season, including the last three. He also has a steal in all but one game. On the season Suggs is third on the team in scoring at 9.8 PPG. He is also averaging 4.0 rebounds/game and 1.1 steals/game.
HALFTIME LEADERS
In nine games this season, the only teams Mary has trailed at intermission was to NCAA Division I and Big Ten member Nebraska, MSU Moorhead and Northern State. The Marauders have led three times and been tied three times. Seven of the games were within three points.
THE BORTKE COURT MAC ATTACK
After struggling at home the last few seasons, Mary is once again finding success at the McDowell Activity Center (MAC).
