TUESDAY
The University of Mary men's basketball team faces arguably the biggest regular season challenge the program has ever faced when the Marauders take on NCAA Division I and Big 10 member University of Nebraska on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Game time against the Cornhuskers is 7 pm at the Pinnacle Center in Lincoln, NE. Â
RECORDS
The University of Mary is 0-2 and has not yet begun Northern Sun play... Nebraska is 1-0.
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders dropped a pair of games at the SBU Classic. In the season opener, Mary dropped a neutral court contest to Lincoln (MO) 83-71. In game two, the Marauders lost to host Southwest Baptist University 76-72... Nebraska opened the season with an 83-61 road win over Sacramento State.
HISTORY LESSON
This is the first meeting between the Marauders and the Cornhuskers. Also this is the first time Nebraska has played an NCAA Division II school in the regular season since the 2006-07 season.
CLOSE TIES
While Mary and Nebraska have never faced one another on the court, there are several reasons why the two teams are playing one another. Cornhuskers head coach Tim Miles is a 1989 graduate of the University of Mary, where he played basketball for the legendary head coach Al Bortke. As a senior Miles moved into coaching, taking over the Marauders junior varsity program. In 2007 Miles was inducted into the Marauders Hall of Fame for his collegiate coaching successes as head coach at Mayville State, Southwest Minnesota State, North Dakota State and Colorado State, prior to arriving at Nebraska. Additionally, Marauders head coach
Joe Kittell has worked closely with Miles, first as a student-assistant at North Dakota State (2002-6) for four years and a season at Colorado State.
LAST YEAR
The Marauders finished 19-12 overall and 12-10 in the NSIC to place 6th overall and third among NSIC North teams. Mary advanced to the NSIC conference tournament semifinals... The Cornhuskers were 16-18 in 2015-16.

NCAA DIVISION I CHALLENGE
When the Marauders tangle with the Cornhuskers on Tuesday, it will be just the fourth time the Marauders have faced an NCAA Division I program in a regular season game, previously visiting Montana State University in December 2003, the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in November 2011 and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in November 2012. Additionally the Marauders visited North Dakota State University in January 2007 and the University of North Dakota in January 2009 while the schools were transitioning to become full members of NCAA Division I.
