Damonta Henry scored a game-high 15 points and fellow seniors
Bryan Jefferson and
Isaac Lindquist both reached double figures as visiting University of Mary rolled past the University of Jamestown 68-52 in an exhibition game.
Down 12-9 early in the game, Henry sparked a 14-0 Marauders run, sandwiching a pair of three-pointers around a basket by Jefferson. Mary never trailed again and went into intermission leading 34-21.
Halfway through the second half the Jimmies climbed within 49-44 before the Marauders slowly began to pull away. A
Luke Scott 3-ball permanently pushed the Mary advantage into double digits at 59-48 with 6:04 remaining in the game.
Henry made 5-of-11 shots from the floor, including 2-of-5 behind the arc, and added three free throws in five attempts. Jefferson missed just one of five field goal attempts and finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Lindquist made 6-of-11 shots to chip in 12 points. He added six boards.
Senior guard
Pat Thomas hauled down a game-high nine rebounds and distributed five assists. Freshman guard
Jaylan White added eight points and
Luke Scott had seven.
Jake Hagler and Robert Baltruns both registered 12 points for the Jimmies.
Efficient at the line and dominant on the boards, Mary made 17-of-19 free throw attempts and held a 57-34 edge in rebounds.
With their lone exhibition game of the season now in the books, the Marauders open regular season play against Lincoln and Southwest Baptist University on Nov. 11-12 in Bolivar, MO.
