Last Week: The Marauders faced two tough tests on the road in the previous week with games against Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul and U-Mary came away empty handed despite
Sloan Turner maintaining her streak of double digit points scored. The Marauders went into halftime down 41-33 and narrowed the gap to 49-47 early in the second half, but the Mavericks proved too much as the Marauder's offense stalled and the Mavericks went on to win 85-64. Turner finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 30 minutes played; she was aided by
Hannah Larson as she finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in 28 minutes.
Haley Hibbs provided the deep threat as she finished with 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc, and
Dani Williams got her fifth start in a row and responded with nine points, three rebounds, and three assists. The next night proved even more difficult as the Golden Bears kept the game close and neither team could manage a lead of greater than five points through most of the game. Concordia-St. Paul held a 63-56 lead with 8:06 remaining, but the Marauders fought right back with a 9-0 run to climb back on top 65-63. Both teams traded baskets after that and the Marauders were ultimately doomed by late turnovers as the Golden Bears forced three in the last four minutes and scored seven points off those steals; the final score was 78-74. Turner added to her streak with 19 points, Larson added a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Hibbs was perfect from distance at 4-for-4 as she finished with 15 ponts.
History: The Marauders moved to 13-3 all-time against Bemidji after the Beavers took the first meeting between the teams, 72-70. The Marauders also lost to Crookston earlier in the year, 71-54, but still hold an advantage over the Golden Eagles with a 15-2 all-time record.
Next week: U-Mary finishes up the regular season with a road trip to Duluth and St. Cloud, Minn., to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State University.
