Marauders fall to No. 50 Warriors

TAMPA, Fla.—The University of Mary tennis team (5-4, 3-1 NSIC) was outmatched Saturday as they fell to ITA No. 50 Wayne State University (Mich.) (19-3, 13-1 GLIAC). Facing the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament runner-up, U-Mary fell 8-1.
 
Sarah Janes picked up U-Mary's only point of the match at second singles defeating Alex Poissant, who is 11-8 on the season, for her third consecutive win. Janes won by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
 
At first single Hallie Welk battled against Andreea Mitrache, who is 11-4 on the season, but ultimately fell 5-7, 5-7. At sixth singles Kate O'Connell won her first set 6-3, but dropped the final two 4-6, 4-10 to Ashley Walker.
 
The Marauders previously undefeated duo of Hallie Welk/Kate O'Connell suffered their first loss of the season at second doubles to Poissant/Andreea Mitrache. Starting the season 8-0, Welk/O'Connell fell 8-4.
