Track, Field Wins for Johnson Headline Split Marauders Efforts

FARGO, N.D. / MANKATO, Minn. – Janet Johnson had another brilliant weekend for the University of Mary women's track and field programs, winning two events by exceeding NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both at the Minnesota State Coaches Open in Mankato, Minn. Other U-Mary student-athletes compete at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D.
 
Showing off her versatility, Johnson won both the 60 meter hurdles and the long jump with marks exceeding the provisional standards. In the 60 hurdles, Johnson ran an 8.52. In her second leap of the day, Johnson sailed 18' 3 ¼" to capture the long jump.
 
Brittney McKinley also posted a provisional mark in the 60 hurdles, placing third in a time of 8.73 seconds.
 
Davina Carr placed fifth in the pole vault, crossing the bar at 11' 9". It was the second straight week the freshman posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
 
Overall the Marauders posted four provisional qualifying performances.
 
Megan Beam and Crystal Hovland also won titles for the Marauders. Beam breezed to a win in the 5,000 meter run with a clocking of 17:58.51. Hovland was first in the 600 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:35.75 seconds while teammate Brienna Lynch was third in 1:37.43.
 
Kayla Carlson finished second in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:00.13.
 
Brittany Osborne ran her best time in the 60 meter dash this season, clocking in at 7.79 seconds to finish third in the finals. Brittney McKinley had the top effort in the preliminaries at 7.80 seconds before finishing last in the finals at 8.60.
 
Cassandra Jones placed second in the 400 meter dash and Melanie Rodriguez finished fourth in times of 58.51 seconds and 59.20 seconds, respectively.
 
In the triple jump, Danylle Kurywchak was third in the event with a top effort of 37' 1".
 
Several Marauders also competed at the Bison Open, hosted by North Dakota State University in Fargo.
 
Faith Kjelstrup provided solid performances in two different events. She was fifth in the 60 meters, running the distance in 8.0 seconds. Kjelstrup was also sixth in the triple jump (36' 4 ¼). 
 
Kameya Johnson was fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.05 seconds.
 
The Marauders next compete at the University of Minnesota on February 22.
