The University of Mary Marauders

This week's NDPF Male Athlete of the Week is Isaiah Thomas. Thomas was fundamental in the Marauders scoring by providing a goal and two assists Saturday night when UMary defeated Minot State for the first time in program history. Trailing 2-0 in the 2nd period, Thomas and Caleb Petrie provided assists for Alex Flicek's goal, which prompted stuffed animals to be thrown onto the ice from all over the stands as part of the Hockey team's teddy bear toss giveaway. Just a few minutes later, Thomas knotted the game up at 2-2 when he skated past Minot's goaltender Jake Anthony to rifle a backhanded goal into the net. Riley Scanlon scored the game-winner 16:44 into the 3rd period, with Thomas again providing an assist alongside Jaren Hugelen. Conan Hayton also played a major role in the net finishing with 35 saves. Thomas is a second-year forward from Bismarck and has 5 goals and 11 assists so far this season.
