The University of Mary Marauders

Shane Trattles became the first University of Mary baseball player to earn National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week honors.

Trattles pitched just the third no-hitter in U-Mary baseball history and came within an out of a perfect game in a 2-0 win over Penn State Beaver. The junior from Sauk Center, MN, retired the first 20 hitters he faced and didn’t allow a baserunner until two outs in the seventh inning when the Marauders infield committed an error. Trattles finished with eight strikeouts in the seven inning complete game and allowed no hits or walks.

This is the first NCBWA national honor for U-Mary. 

Trattles also was named the Northern Sun Pitcher of the Week. For the year, the transfer from Ridgewater Community College is 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA. In his first season at U-Mary, Trattles has struck out 12 hitters and allowed 14 hits and zero walks in 16 innings.
