Biography

2016
In his true freshman campaign he compiled a record of 21-6, during that stint he accumulated 82 takedowns, 7 major decisions, and 2 falls. His 82 takedowns in a season ranks him second all-time on the University of Mary leaderboards for takedowns in a season. He won NDSU’s annual Bison Open and placed 3rd at the UNK Holiday Inn Loper open tournament in Kearney Nebraska. His stellar campaign came to a halt at the Super Region 3 tournament where he went 2-2. At the team’s end of the year banquet he was awarded the King of the Mat award.

2017
Rudy competed the year as unattached, during his redshirt campaign he went 19-5, while only sustaining a lone loss against NCAA Division II opponents. During his redshirt campaign he acquired 71 takedowns and only gave up 9 takedowns. He placed 6th at SDSU’s Daktronics open, 2nd at NDSU’s Bison Open, 3rd at Concordia-Moorhead’s Finn Grinaker Open, 1st at MSUM’s Dragon Open, and 1st at the Dickinson Tyler Plummer open. He also had a great campaign in Greco-Roman Placing 3rd at the prestigious Dave Schultz Memorial Invitational, qualifying him a spot at the Men’s senior level Greco-Roman world team trials. Rudy also competed at the UWW-World team trials for Greco in Las Vegas, NV in April, finishing 4th place overall.

PRIOR TO UMARY
Son of Rodolfo and Lesvia Guillen, Rodolfo is a four-sport athlete in wrestling, football, track and field, and cross country for Norcross High School. During his impressive career, Rodolfo amassed a 121-27 record with finishing fifth in state as a sophomore, won the state tournament as a junior, and was runner-up in state as a senior.
 
His illustrious career is punctuated by a second place and seventh place finish at the Fargo Greco Roman tournament at 138 pounds and 132 pounds, respectively, a third place finish at the Powerade tournament at 145 pounds, a fifth place finish at both the NHSCA tournament in 145 pounds and the FILA Cadet World Trials at 63 kilograms. He was named to the All-Gwinnet County team three times, named to the All-Area team three times, and was named to the All-State team once. Rodolfo’s intended major at U-Mary is engineering.
