BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary tennis team hosts their only two home matches of the season this weekend at the Mandan Tennis Center. UMary takes on Winona State University on Saturday, February 22, at 1 pm. The Marauders then challenge Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sunday, February 23, at 12:30 pm.

SENIOR DAY
The Marauders will host their senior day before the match against MSU on Sunday. UMary will honor
Chloe Chong Zhi Jing,
Luba Moyo and
Ilona Freitag for their contributions on and off the court at the University of Mary.
LAST TIME OUT
UMary lost their opening contest 4-3 against Gustavus Adolphus College.
Chloe Chong Zhi Jing (6-4, 6-3) and
Maria Estinvil (6-2, 6-3) won their matches against GAC. The Marauders also won in doubles competition to earn one team point.

ZHI JING NAMED NSIC PLAYER TO WATCH
For the fourth season in a row,
Chloe Chong Zhi Jing was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tennis Player to Watch for the Marauders. The Senior has earned All-NSIC First Team Singles honors in all three seasons she has competed at UMary.
MARAUDERS PROJECTED TO FINISH FOURTH
UMary women's tennis is projected to finish 4th in the conference, according to the NSIC Coaches' Poll. Last season, the Marauders took second in the Northern Sun.
OTHER RETURNERS
Ilona Freitag returns for her senior season after earning All-NSIC Second Team Singles honors after competing as the Marauders three last year. The Le Locle, Switzerland, native went 7-2 in conference action.
Maria Estinvil returns after being named to the All-NSIC Second Team in singles action. The Quebec, Canada, native went 7-1 in the Northern Sun as she competed as the team's number four. UMary also returns
Luba Moyo to the roster, who competed as the number six last year.
NEWCOMERS
The Marauders have added three freshmen to the roster.

Madeline Abbott look to make an immediate impact in their first season at UMary.
PORTER NAMED HEAD COACH
After serving the last two seasons as the Marauders assistant coach, Porter takes over the helm of the UMary tennis program. Porter was named the Marauders head coach on July 25, 2024. Porter's been the assistant boys and girls tennis coach at Mandan High School since the 2020-21 season and a tennis instructor since 2015. He's earned multiple all-conference honors as a tennis player.
