Quartet of Marauders claim 2025 All-NSIC football honors

BURNSVILLE, MN – A quartet of big play performers from both sides of the ball represent the University of Mary on the 2025 All-Northern Sun football team.
 
Mason Phillips and Damani Wilks both received first team All-NSIC North recognition while Luke Bodine and Abram Jopp claimed second team honors. This is the second straight season Phillips has earned post-season acknowledgement he was named to the 2024 All-NSIC second team. Wilks, Bodine and Jopp are first-time honorees.
 
A senior linebacker, Phillips was a disruptive force behind the line of scrimmage for the Marauders. The Gilbert, AZ, native had a team-leading 4.5 sacks and a total of 7.0 tackles for loss. He totaled 30 tackles (20 solo), recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass, broke up a pair of passes and blocked a kick. Phillips was 8th in the NSIC in sacks and 17th in tackles for loss.
 
Phillips finishes his UMary career with 18.5 sacks to tie Ross Lytle for 9th all-time in program history. He ranks 5th all-time in tackles for loss with 30.5. He is a 3-time NSIC all-academic team member and a Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction award recipient.
 
Wilks, a wide receiver from Las Vegas, NV, demonstrated an ability to stretch the field at any point for one of the top aerial attacks in NCAA Division II. In his first and only season at UMary, the transfer from Utah Tech caught 48 passes for 855 yards and five touchdowns. Wilks averaged 17.8 yards per catch and had a reception of 19 yards or longer in every game. In five games he had a catch or 30 or more yards. Three times the senior broke the century mark for receiving yards in a game with a high of 169 yards on eight catches in the Battle of the Big Lake victory. He also had two touchdowns and 112 yards receiving on the road against NSIC champion Minnesota Duluth.
 
Wilks finished the regular season 4th in the NSIC in receiving yards, 7th in yards/catch and 9th in receptions. In NCAA Division II he is 22nd in receiving yards and 29th in receiving yards per game for a Marauders passing attack that is 11th nationally in passing yards/game (298.1).
 
Bodine redefined the role of a tight end at UMary, setting several records for the position for a game, season and career. The senior from Plymouth, MN, caught 70 passes for 796 yards and 10 touchdowns, leading UMary in receptions and touchdowns. He opened the season with three touchdown receptions in a win over Midland and caught a pair of scoring passes on homecoming against MSU Moorhead. In the final game of the season Bodine set career highs with 12 catches for 147 yards and a score at Bemidji State University.
 
In the NSIC Bodine ranked 3rd in catches, 4th in receiving touchdowns, 6th in receiving yardage and 8th in total touchdowns. Among tight ends he was first in catches and second in yards and touchdowns. In NCAA D2 Bodine was 12th in touchdown catches, 12th in receptions/game, 33rd in receiving yards and 40th in receiving yards/game (72.4).
 
Among NCAA D2 tight ends, Bodine is first in receptions and second in receiving yards and touchdowns. He only trails NSIC North 1st team tight end Luke Dehnicke in yards and touchdowns.
 
Bodine wraps up his career with 153 catches for 1,574 yards and 15 touchdowns. He ranks 7th all-time at UMary in catches and 12th in receiving yards.
 
Jopp ranged far and wide to make plays for the Marauders defense. The UMary safety picked off a team-high three passes during the season for 17 yards of returns. He broke up another four passes and totaled seven passes defended on the year. Additionally the junior from Mayer, MN, totaled 53 tackles with 49 of them solo stops.
 
Jopp ranked 4th in the NSIC in interceptions and 13th in passes defended. He ranked 9th in solo tackles.
 
Additionally Jopp was joined on the NSIC North 2nd team defense by his brother Elijah, a defensive back at Northern State.
