The Marauders are 3-5 overall, 2-5 in Northern Sun play and 1-3 in the NSIC North Division… The Beavers are 2-6 overall, 2-5 in the NSIC and 2-1 in the NSIC North.
 
LAST TIME OUT (OCT. 11)
UMary owned the lead after the first quarter before dropping a 54-32 decision at #11/15 University of Minnesota Duluth… Minot State was edged out 24-17 at home to Sioux Falls.
 
BATTLE OF THE BIG LAKE
This is the 11^th annual "Battle of the Big Lake" travelling trophy game between the University of Mary and Minot State University. It is also the 32^nd meeting between the two programs, which is the most times the Marauders have faced any single opponent. The series began in 1988 when UMary joined the North Dakota College Athletic Conference. The series went on a hiatus when the Marauders moved to NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun in 2006. After a seven-year break following the 2005 contest, the two schools resumed the series in 2012 when Minot State was admitted into the Northern Sun.
 
BIG LAKE TROPHY
The Marauders won the first two "Battle of the Big Lake" travelling trophy games, 45-10 at home in 2013 and 31-29 on the road (2014). The Beavers claimed the trophy for the first time in 2015 with a 15-9 overtime road win... MSU leads the Big Lake Trophy series 6-4… The Marauders are the current owners of the Big Lake Trophy following a 27-23 homecoming win October 28, 2023. Touchdowns by Amir Bankhead and Traivon Dyson and a pair of Kevin Powell field goals gave UMary a 20-7 lead. Jakob Petry delivered the final blow in the win with a 30 yard interception return early in the 4^th quarter. UMary held Minot State to 25 yards passing and 261 total yards in head coach Shann Schillinger's first win.   
 
TWO TRAVELING TROPHIES
The Marauders play two games annually for travelling trophies. UMary is a combined 12-17 in trophy games. The Marauders are 8-11 in the "Battle for the Paddle" with MSU Moorhead and 4-6 in the "Battle for the Big Lake" against Minot State.
 
MARAUDERS-BEAVERS HISTORY LESSON

• This is the 32^nd meeting between the two schools located 118 miles apart on Highway 83
• UMary has played Minot State 31 times, more than any other school
• The series began in 1988 when Mary joined the North Dakota College Athletic Conference

GAME 8 REWIND | #11/15 Minnesota Duluth 54 UMary 32
Facing their second nationally-ranked football team this season, the University of Mary football team didn't back away from the challenge. The visiting Marauders held the lead at the end of the first quarter but 11th/15th ranked University of Minnesota Duluth caught fire in the second as the Bulldogs claimed a 54-32 victory.

• Damani Wilks headlined the Marauders effort with a pair of touchdown receptions, including a 43 yard score in the second half. He finished with six catches for 113 yards. The two touchdowns are a career-best for Wilks. He tied his career mark for catches and crossed the century mark in yardage for a second time.
• On the opening drive of the game by UMD the UMary defense held on a 4th-and-3 play from the UMary 25 when Kalani Washington broke up a pass, forcing the Bulldogs to turn the ball over on downs.
• A 35 yard pass catch and run by Luke Bodine and an 11 yard run by Xavier Brackenridge propelled the Marauders to the UMD 25 yard line on UMary's first possession. Jack Henninger kicked a career-long 43 yard field goal at 8:36 of the first quarter to give UMary a 3-0 lead.
• In the 18^th meeting between the Marauders and the Bulldogs, this was the first time UMary had ever scored first.
• The Bulldogs responded with a 75 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Wallsjasper to tight end Luke Dehnicke. It was the first of four touchdowns for Dehnicke, who also caught a 2-point conversion and finished with eight receptions for 230 yards.
• Brackenridge sparked the Marauders next drive, turning a short pass from Jordan Solomon Polo into a 44 yard gain. Hudsen Sheldon capped the scoring drive with an 8 yard TD pass to Wilks in the right side of the end zone. A 2-point conversion from Quin Hafner to Wilks gave the Marauders an 11-8 lead at 5:24 of the opening quarter.
• UMD followed with a pair of scores before UMary again reached the end zone. Midway through the second quarter, Polo Solomon found Karsyn Jablonski for a 4 yard TD reception in the back right corner of the end zone, closing the gap to 23-18. Another two scores by the Bulldogs sent UMD into halftime with a 37-18.
• With another two touchdowns on the board for the Bulldogs, the Marauders found the end zone early in the fourth quarter when Wilks hauled in a 44 yard TD strike from Polo Solomon. Taking advantage of a Cameron Brusven fumble recovery at the UMD 42, UMary closed out the scoring on a 6 yard run by Sheldon.
• Polo Solomon completed 20 of 38 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Sheldon ran for 25 yards and a touchdown and completed 6-of-8 passes for 59 yards and a score.
• Bodine finished with 91 yards receiving on five catches. Brackenridge added 68 yards on two catches and ran for 28.
• Defensively Abram Jopp led UMary with eight solo tackles. Travis Biery had a sack and four tackles.
• The Marauders generated 21 first downs and 403 yards of offense, including 354 passing. The Bulldogs had 22 first downs and 501 yards of offense, including 300 passing.
• Walljasper completed 13-of-16 passes for 230 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for 90 yards and a score.

 
MOVE THE CHAINS
The Marauders are 12^th in the country and 3^rd in the NSIC in first downs with 188 through eight games. UMary set an NCAA-era school mark with 32 first downs at Jamestown and followed up with 28 against MSUM.
 
POSSESSION IS 9/10^th OF THE LAW
UMary is 12^th in the country in time of possession, holding the ball for 33:23 minutes per game.
 
AERIAL ASSAULT
The Marauders and first year offensive coordinator Taylor Kolste have created a potent passing attack. With four different starting quarterbacks this season, In NCAA Division II, UMary ranks:

• 15^th in passing yards/game (285.8)
• 27^th in completion percentage (63.2%)

The Marauders have passed for at least 300 yards in five of eight games, including four straight.
 
WISDOM OF SOLOMON
Jordan Polo Solomon set career-highs for passing yardage in back-to-back games. In week seven against MSU Moorhead the senior quarterback accounted for three touchdowns as her threw for 284 yards and two TDs while also running for a score… In week eight the team captain tossed or 295 yards and two touchdowns at #11/15 Minnesota Duluth.
 
WILKS WOWS
Damani Wilks is making his presence felt in his first season at UMary. The transfer from Utah Tech has 34 catches for a team-leading 586 yards and four TDs.

• He is 11^th in the NSIC in receptions and 6^th in yards per game (73.3)
• Wilks had a run of four straight games with at least 70 yards receiving: five catches for 79 yards against Augie, two catches for 70 yards and a touchdown at Southwest Minnesota State, six catches for 133 yards and a score against Northern State and five catches for 76 yards at Jamestown.
• Wilks cracked the century mark for yards a second time with 112 yards and a career-best two TDs on six catches at UMD, including a 44 yard touchdown catch.

 
CENTURY CITY
Redshirt freshman running back Xavier Brackenridge has twice hit the century mark this season. He ran for 133 yards on 29 carries against Augustana and 119 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries against Jamestown. For the year he is 9^th in the NSIC with 498 yards rushing on 110 carries… He ran for two TDs against MSUM and also threw for a 2-point conversion… he has six catches for 98 yards.  
          
BO-FLEX

• Senior TE Luke Bodine leads NCAA in catches/game by a tight end (5.75) and is second in touchdown catches by a tight end (7)
• Through eight games in 2025 Bodine owns 46 catches for 516 yards and seven TDs.
• He is 4^th in the NSIC in receiving touchdowns, 8^th in total touchdowns, 3^rd in catches and 9^th in receiving yards.
• Bodine is the 15^th UMary player to reach the century mark for receptions and now has 129 catches for 1,294 yards in his career. He reached the century mark for receptions against visiting Augustana on Sept. 13, 2025.
• Bodine is 10^th all-time in receptions at UMary. Next on the list is Neil MacDannald (132), Erik Kruse (133) and Nick Jolliffe (135).
• For receiving yards Bodin moved into 15^th place and is just behind Roman Penirian (1,227), Leon Cradle (1,228), Brady Martin (1,276) and Darrin Johnson (1,281) last weekend. Next on the list is Brent Walker (1,305) and Erik Kruse (1,407).
• Bodine has seven touchdown receptions in 2025, including three in the season opener against Midland and two against MSUM. After catching five touchdown passes in his first 35 games with the Marauders, the Plymouth, MN, native now has 12 touchdown catches in his career.
• Bodine has played 43 games for UMary, the most by any player on the 2025 roster

 
THE PHILLIPS FILE

• Senior LB Mason Phillips is the Marauders 2025 Northern Sun Defensive Player to Watch.
• Phillips tied his career-high with 2.0 sacks against #11 Augustana, the 4^th time in his career he has had two sacks in a game
• For 2025 Phillips is 5^th in the NSIC in sacks (3)
• Phillips intercepted his first career pass in a win at SMSU. He also has two pass break-ups.
• With a career total of 17 sacks, Phillips is tied for 11^th in program history with Jesse Laber and closing in on Jason Davis (10^th with 18).
• With 27.5 career tackles for loss, Phillips is tied with Justin Russetti (1999-2002) for 8^th place and is closing in on Toby Schweitzer (7^th with 28), Jason Davis (29) and Tanner Schweitzer (30). 
• The Marauders team captain earned 2^nd team All-NSIC honors in 2024 after posting 5.5 sacks and 10.0 tackles for loss
• Phillips was 6^th in the NSIC in tackles for loss and 8^th in sacks in 2024
• The Gilbert, AZ, native earned a spot on the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch list for 2025. He is the first Marauders player to be recognized since 2022 when WR Danny Kittner (1^st team) and QB Logan Nelson were honored.

 
STOP!
One of the NSIC's leading tacklers last season, Christopher Federico is once again towards the top of the charts. Through eight games Federico is 8^th in the NSIC with 7.1 tackles/game (41 solo, 16 assisted). He also has 2.0 sacks and is 9^th in the NSIC with 6.5 tackles for loss. The junior linebacker was 7^th in the NSIC in 2024 with 7.2 tackles/game.
 
BREAK IT UP
Defensive back Abram Jopp is 2^nd in the NSIC in interceptions (3) and 7^th in passes defended (6). He has three break-ups plus his three interceptions… Tuakoi Mahe is 12^th in the NSIC in passes defended. The senior LB has five breakups this year.
 
SACK CITY
The Marauders are 6^th in the NSIC in sacks with 14 through eight games. UMary had five against Augustana and three against both Midland and SMSU. Mason Phillips leads the way with three sacks and Christopher Federico has two.
 
D-FENCE
After limiting four of their first six opponents to under 300 yards, the Marauders rank 6^th in the NSIC in yards per game in the NSIC, allowing an average of 369.8 yards/game. UMary held Midland to 229 yards and 12 1^st downs in the opener, limited #11 Augustana to 274 yards and 17 first downs in week three, kept SMSU to 258 yards and 17 first downs, and restricted Jamestown to 279 yards and 16 first downs.

The 2025 University of Mary football team captains are senior LB Mason Phillips (Gilbert, AZ), senior QB Ryan Blair (Spokane, WA), senior QB Jordan Polo Solomon (Kalihi, HI) and junior LB Christopher Federico (Henderson, NV).
 
JAB STEP
Jr. WR Karsyn Jablonski is showing off his big play ability in 2025. In seven games this season he has Through five games he has 36 catches for 470 yards and five TDs (all career-highs) while averaging 13.1 yards/catch. The Mandan, ND, native set career-highs this season with 9 catches (at Jamestown), 129 yards (vs. Midland) and 2 touchdowns (at Jamestown). Three times Jablonski has cracker 100 yards receiving (129 vs. Midland, 103 at Jamestown, 101 vs. MSU Moorhead). He is 9^th in the NSIC in catches, 8^th in catches/game (5.1), 9^th in receiving yards/game (67.1) and 5^th in receiving TDs.

BY AIR LAND AND SEA
Fr. QB Hudsen Sheldon has accounted for touchdowns three different ways: he has run for a TD, passed for four TDs and has caught a TD, all in his first three collegiate games. In his first college game he ran for 115 yards and a TD and passed for 100 yards. In game two he passed for 213 yards and 4 TDs and ran for 71 yards. In his third game he caught three passes for 70 yards (including a 55 yard TD), ran for 7 yards and passed for 18 yards.

• Since 2006, two other Marauders also passed, ran and caught touchdowns. Garrett Weissinger (2016-19) threw seven TD passes, ran for six and caught one in his career. Colten Farmer (2015-18) ran for seven TDs, passed for six and caught one.
• The last UMary player to account for touchdowns in such diverse ways was All-American WR Danny Kittner (2018-22), who caught 29 scoring passes, passed for two touchdowns and returned both a kickoff and a punt for scores.  

 
BROWN MAKES LONG AWAITED NCAA DEBUT
One of the nation's top running backs in the Class of 2019 made his NCAA debut in the Marauders win at SMSU. Derrian Brown, the nation's 12^th ranked high school running back in 2019, signed a letter of intent with the University of Texas. Shortly after signing day, he suffered a stroke before graduating from Buford HS in Georgia. In a coma for two days, forced to undergo brain surgery and eventually needing to re-learn to walk and talk, Brown attended Texas on scholarship but was never medically cleared to play for the Longhorns, though he was cleared medically to play football. After earning his degree from UT, Brown saw limited action last season at Santa Barbara City College. He joined UMary prior to this season and earned five carries for 15 yards, including a run for 12 yards, to help the Marauders defeat the Mustangs. 
 
MANDAN MOXIE
Junior wide receiver Karsyn Jablonski caught a 36 yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Hudsen Sheldon to give UMary a 14-7 lead at SMSU. It was the first collegiate touchdown pass for Sheldon, who was making his first collegiate start and second appearance. Jablonski and Sheldon are both Mandan, ND, natives. While they played high school football together briefly at Mandan HS when Jablonski was a senior (Class of 2023) and Sheldon a sophomore (Class of 2025), the SMSU scoring play was the first time the pair had connected for a touchdown… Both Karsyn's and Sheldon's fathers played football for the Marauders.
 
FEDERICO NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SEPT 20 EFFORT
Christopher Federico's constant presence in the opposing backfield earned the University of Mary linebacker Northern Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors following the Marauders 40-9 road win at Southwest Minnesota State University. Federico registered a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss against the Mustangs, setting SMSU back a total of 11 yards. That was the most tackles behind the line for an NSIC player last week. Additionally the junior from Henderson, NV, made a team-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops. Federico keyed a Marauders defense that held SMSU to 256 yards of offense with just 58 on the ground.
 
BLAIR NAMED NSIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR OCT 4 PERFORMANCE
A prolific performance over a longtime rival earned UMary quarterback Ryan Blair Northern Sun Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Marauders 44-22 road win over the University of Jamestown. Blair passed for 341 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He completed 28-of-41 passes and didn't throw an interception as UMary scored the first 34 points in the game. The graduate transfer from Whitworth (OR) University twice connected with Karsyn Jablonski for scoring passes (1 yard and 21 yards) sandwiched around a 14 yard scoring pass to Luke Bodine. All three touchdown passes came in the first half.  
 
THE BLAIR PITCH & CATCH PROJECT
In three starts for the Marauders this season QB Ryan Blair has exploited defenses for over 300 yards each time. In the Week 0 win over Midland, the graduate transfer from Whitworth University  passed for 303 yards and four TDs. Returning after missing three weeks due to injury, the Spokane, WA, native threw for 348 yards and two scores against Northern State. In a win at Jamestown he passed for 341 yards and three TDs without an interception to earn NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors. In his three games the Spokane, OR, native is completing 69% of his passes (82-of-119) this season for 992 yards and nine touchdowns with just three interceptions.
 
32 FIRST DOWNS = UMARY NCAA ERA RECORD
The Marauders set an NCAA era program record for first downs with 32 against the Jimmies. UMary's previous best was 31, last accomplished in 2022 against Minnesota State University…

BLAIR PACES NEWCOMERS
Under the direction of Offensive Coordinator Taylor Kolste in his first year at UMary, five newcomers are expected to start the opening game of the year for the Marauders on offense. Leading the charge is graduate transfer QB Ryan Blair. The native of Spokane, WA, threw 37 touchdowns and just five interceptions at Whitworth University, completing 69% of his passes for 3,254 yards to earn conference offensive player of the year recognition while leading his squad to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs… Other newcomers who have broken into the starting lineup for the Marauders include WR Damani Wilks (Utah Tech), OL Shively "Timo" Fua (Utah State), OL Amir Graham (Tuskegee University), OL Daniel Contreras (Glendale College).
 
FORWARD STEP
Several retuning Marauders have stepped into starting roles for the first time this season including DL Christian Arteaga, DL Ian Kopf, DL Travis Biery, DB Jack Stouffer, DB Jaylin Martin and DB Kalani Washington on defense. On offense, QB Quin Hafner, RB Xavier Brackenridge, TE Ramsey Morrell and OG Carter Svobodny have picked up starts. Additionally redshirt freshmen Jack Henninger (kicker) and Christian Jangula (punter) have taken over the specialist roles.
 
WELCOME COACHES
Head coach Shann Schillinger has added several new faces to his coaching staff in 2025, including offensive coordinator Taylor Kolste, offensive line coach Alex Land, wire receivers coach Tanyon Bissell and safeties coach Thomas DeCoud… Schillinger and DeCoud were teammates in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, where DeCoud was a Pro Bowl player… Like Schillinger, Bissell is a native of Montana. The Bozeman native played at Boise State and made a tackle in the Broncos 43-42 win over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
 
 BLOCK PARTY
Ian Kopf is the Marauders all-time NCAA leader in blocked kicks with six. He set the record when he rejected a Jamestown extra point attempt in the opener – the fifth block of his career. He later added a PAT block at SMSU… The senior defensive lineman from Walla Walla, WA, posted a pair of blocks each of the previous two seasons to go with two in 2024. Kopf was named the NSIC Player of the Week in his freshman season of 2022 when he blocked a pair of extra points in a 27-26 UMary overtime win over Northern State. His second block of the game came in overtime. The Marauders previous NCAA-era leader in blocked kicks was All-NSIC defensive lineman Brock Pittsley with four blocks (2014-17).
 
FAMILY MATTERS
Cameron Brusven, Karsyn Jablonski, Conner Harvison, Colter Harvison and Hudsen Sheldon are 2nd generation Marauders as their father's played football for the Marauders… Charles Richter had an older brother who played for the Marauders… Luke Dockter's father Jeff coached several seasons at UMary… WR Sam Alford is the brother of current UMary assistant coach Eli Alford… Jett Solomon and Jordan Polo Solomon are brothers… Logan Dockter's mother Angela played volleyball for the Marauders… Brothers Conner Harvison and Colter Harvison's mother Jennifer also played volleyball at UMary and their father Wayne was a 4-time wrestling All-American and is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame… Hudsen Sheldon's mother Mandy is a member of the Marauders Hall of Fame for her track & field exploits.
 
HOME COOKING
Recruitment for the 2025 season featured a heavy focus on the Bismarck/Mandan area. Newcomers Hudsen Sheldon (Mandan HS), James Wilson (Shiloh Christian HS), Kain Heustis (Bismarck HS), Jensen Schulz (Mandan HS), Easton Bergrud (Legacy HS), Logan Dockter (Bismarck HS), Conner and Colter Harvison (Bismarck HS), Charles Richter (St. Mary's HS), DJ Gabriel (Bismarck HS), Terrell Diarra (Shiloh Christian HS) and John Bugbee (Mandan HS) are all local products. There are now 21 players on the roster from the Bismarck/Mandan area.

BODINE NAMED MARAUDERS OFFENSIVE PLAYER TO WATCH
Entering his fifth season at UMary, senior TE Luke Bodine is the Marauders 2025 NSIC Offensive Player to Watch. Bodine leads all returning Marauders in games played, suiting up in 34 games for the Blue & Orange in his career. Last season the tight end from Plymouth, MN, caught 34 passes for 281 yards and a score, posting career-highs for receptions and yards. Over the course of his career Bodine has snared 83 balls for 778 yards and five scores.
 
2025 PRESEASON NSIC POLL
UMary is picked to finish 12th overall in the 2025 NSIC Football Preseason Coaches' Poll and 6th in the NSIC North Division. Minnesota State sits atop the overall preseason rankings, followed by Augustana, Minnesota Duluth, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Wayne State, MSU Moorhead, Northern State, Winona State, Minot State, Concordia-St. Paul, UMary, Southwest Minnesota State and Jamestown… The NSIC North rankings feature Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth tied for first, followed by MSU Moorhead, Northern State, Minot State, UMary and Jamestown.

HEAD COACH SHANN SCHILLINGER
Former NFL player and Baker, MT, native Shann Schillinger leads the Marauders onto the field for his third season in 2025 after taking over as UMary head coach in 2023. A former star at the University of Montana and the 8th head coach in UMary program history, Schillinger has coached in both the NCAA Division I Big Ten and Big Sky conferences and is a Montana Football Hall of Fame inductee.
 
Winning is a common theme throughout Schillinger's career. Between high school and college Schillinger's teams posted 100 victories and only seven defeats. A team captain, Schillinger won three state titles during his four years at Baker HS (2001-04) as quarterback and defensive back while coached by his uncle Don Schillinger, one of the winningest prep coaches in Montana history.
 
Dubbed "the fastest man from Baker, MT," his accolades made him a highly recruited college prospect before signing on with the Grizzlies as a safety. Schillinger helped lead the Grizzlies to two Football Championship Series (FCS) title games while also earning All-Big Sky Conference honors. Twice he was honored with the Tony Barbour Award, given annually to the "player who best exemplifies outstanding practice habits and makes an unselfish contribution to the betterment of the Grizzly football team." He ranks among the best in Montana history with 257 career takedowns and 11 career interceptions.
 
After a star-studded career with the University of Montana Grizzlies, NFL fans heard Schillinger's name called on national TV by the Atlanta Falcons in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Drafted as the 171st overall pick, Schillinger played four years in the NFL as a safety from 2010 to 2013 with the Falcons and Tennessee Titans.
 
Schillinger's full-time coaching career began after the NFL in 2015 as a special teams and defensive backs assistant for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. He returned to his alma mater in Missoula to coach special teams and safeties from 2016 to 2021 and served as the team's pro scout liaison.
