BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary football team will have a new signal caller for the 2025 season as Taylor Kolste takes the reigns as offensive coordinator for the Marauders.

“We are excited to have Coach Kolste join us and take over the offense. He comes highly recommended by a couple of coaches who I know and trust,” said head coach Shann Schillinger.  “I’ve been extremely impressed with his ability to relate to our kids, and it’s been fun watching our guys take to his coaching. He is a great addition to the Marauders football coaching staff.”

Kolste joins UMary after previously working as an assistant QB coach at the University of Kentucky. While at UK, he worked closely with offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan as the Wildcats threw for 2,218 yards and 15 touchdowns.

“I am very grateful to join the UMary football program and work for a head coach the caliber of Coach Schillinger. I believe Coach Schillinger has the program headed on an upward trajectory. I can't wait to get to work with our players to help continue to move it forward,” Kolste said.

Prior to his time at UK, Kolste spent two seasons (2022-23) as the offensive analyst for quarterbacks at Boise State University. In 2023, BSU won the regular-season Mountain West Conference championship and was led by quarterback Taylor Green.

Before joining the Broncos, Kolste served as an assistant quarterbacks coach and later an assistant wide receivers coach at Southern Utah (2020-21).

A native of Oak Harbor, WA, Kolste played four years at Whitworth University (2016-19) as a wide receiver. During his senior year, he had 43 receptions for 439 yards and five touchdowns. He also completed one pass for a 43-yard touchdown. Kolste was named to the All-Northwest Conference Second Team in 2019.
