Dan Doherty joined the University of Mary in August 2024 as its first Coordinator of Athletic Broadcasts and Live Events. His most recent position was with BEK TV in Bismarck, where he had the opportunity to broadcast Northern Sun basketball, football, soccer, and several Marauders hockey games.
Doherty graduated from Ithaca College in 2017 with a degree in Sports Media. In 2018, he served as the Broadcasting and Media Relations
Assistant for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. This was a unique opportunity for Dan to call games featuring MLB stars from his childhood like Francisco Rodriguez, Emilio Bonifacio, Jair Jurrjens and more. After a season in that role, he became the team’s Public Address Announcer.
That position only lasted for half a season, though, as he was hired by ESPN Ithaca to become their play-by-play broadcaster and reporter. Following three years of covering high school sports in upstate New York, he made the move to Bismarck to join BEK.
In addition to the aforementioned college sports at BEK, Doherty was the voice of North Dakota High School State Championships in volleyball, wrestling, and softball.
