Marauders take team title at Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open in 1st outdoor meet of year

LOCKWOOD, MT – The University of Mary women's track & field team opened the outdoor season with a tremendous team effort at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open as the Marauders captured the team title.  
 
Additionally four Marauders posted NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks at the event hosted by MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College.
 
All-American Arianna Passeri earned a pair of wins on the day. The senior won the long jump with an NCAA qualifying effort of 6.04 meters. She also placed first in the 100 meter dash with a clocking of 12.33 seconds.
 
Sakena Massiah won the 400 meter dash with an NCAA provisional mark of 55.68 seconds, winning the event by over three seconds.
 
Morgan Hertz claimed the win in the 400 meter hurdles when she cleared the barriers in 1:01.88, an NCAA provisional qualifying effort.
 
Nicole Kramchynsky had the best toss of the day in the javelin, winning the event with a throw of 42.70. That effort is also an NCAA Division II qualifying marks. She followed with a 5th place finish in the shot put.  
 
Kiran Green had an impressive day with a win and a second place finish. The senior captured the 1500 meter run by nearly three seconds with a time of 4:49.04. Green was the runner-up in the 800 when she rounded the track in 2:22.17.
 
The Marauders 4x100 meter relay team of Hertz, Massiah, Taylor Weidner and Passeri combined for a time of 47.34 seconds to win the event.
 
Antonia Genet cleared the bar at 1.62 meters to win the high jump.
 
Several other Marauders also had top five finishes on the day.
 
Ava Grimm was the runner-up in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.21 seconds.
 
Tia Horning earned third the 100 meter hurdles in 15.69 seconds. Anna Rader cleared the 100 meter barriers in 16.27 seconds to place 5th.
 
Jerrica Pachl earned third place in the high jump, posting a top effort of 1.57 meters.
 
In addition to helping win the 4x100 meter relay, Weidner placed third in the triple jump (10.95 meters) and snared 5th in the long jump (5.33 meters).
 
Terez Wycklendt ran the 800 in a time of 2:27.72 to finish 4th.
 
Kristine Kalthoff finished 4th in the 1500 with a time of 5:00.79.
 
Kendall Berg claimed 5th in the 200 with a time of 27.42 seconds.
 
Jessica Goetz placed 5th in the discus with a top toss of 35.70 meters.
 
The Marauders finished first in the team standings with 168 points in the field of 11 teams.
 
UMary next competes at the University of South Dakota Early Bird meet on April 7-8 in Vermillion, SD.
