Box Score ORLANDO, FL - The University of Mary Tennis team wrapped up their spring break trip to the Sunshine State on Sunday. Facing another tough team in the heat, the Marauders (4-3, 3-0 NSIC) fell 3-4 to Michigan Technological University (2-2).
"We concluded our Spring trip playing a tough team," said head coach Vida Saliendra. "I'm Impressed how my athletes competed in the heat and played with heart."Â
The Huskies controlled doubles play taking each of the three matches. Dominika Bobik and Grace Eland handed Chloe Chong and Ilona Freitag their first doubles loss on the season 2-6 in the #1 matchup. Doaa Farouk Mohamed and Hala Hossam Awad fell 3-6 in #2 doubles. Emily Needham and Samantha Purpura fell 0-6 in #3 doubles.Â
In singles action, Chloe Chong came out on top in another super tiebreaker, defeating Dominika Bobik 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) in #1 singles.Â
Doaa Farouk Mohamed retired early to Grace Eland in #2 singles.
In #3 singles, Ilona Freitag persevered in another super tiebreaker defeating Ewa Podulka 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (11-9) in a highly competitive #3 singles match.Â
"Ilona kept her composure too in a very tight match," said coach Saliendra. "In the super tiebreaker, points were up and down. Her opponent was hard hitting with a big serve."Â
Hala Hossam Awad pulled off an impressive win in #4 singles. After taking the first set 6-4, Awad found herself trailing 2-5 to Neva Manas. Staying composed, Awad pushed through to a 7-5 set and match win.Â
Emily Needham retired early in #5 singles.Â
Samantha Purpura fell to Marina Fernandez in #6 singles.

The UMary Tennis team will return home in two weeks. The Marauders will host Sioux Falls and Augustana on March 18-19 from the Mandan Tennis Center.Â
