BROOKINGS, SD – Facing their toughest competition of the young season,
Alyssa Becker and
Arianna Passeri continued their impressive seasons for the University of Mary as both Marauders generated national qualifying marks at the South Dakota State University Jim Emmerich Alumni Invite.
In just her third meet of the indoor season and the first away from the UMary campus, Becker recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time in her second event this season with an impressive effort in the 3000 meter run. Her time of 9:52.20 was the 3
rd best time of the day, trailing a pair of NCAA Division I competitors.
The All-American is 12
th nationally on the 3K leaderboard. She ran a qualifying mark in the 5000 meter run earlier this season and ranks 17
th in the longer of the two distance events.
Passeri placed in the top seven of two events. The Rosemount, MN, native was third in the long jump, generating an NCAA qualifying mark of 5.85 meters. She also added a 7
th place finish in the 60 meter dash, covering the shortest sprint in 7.85 seconds. Passeri had the fifth best time in the preliminaries at 7.73 seconds.
Danalee Brock had the Marauders best individual finish on the day when she placed second in the 600 with a time of 1:37.24.
A'Lena Chaney scored in a pair of events for the Marauders. She earned 5
th place in a deep triple jump field with a top leap of 10.92 meters. She also claimed 8
th in the 60 meter hurdles when she cleared the barriers in 8.97 seconds. She was clocked in 8.96 seconds in the event preliminaries.
Additional Marauders to place in the Top 10:
The Marauders finished fourth in the team standings out 13 teams with 36.5 points. The top three squads were NCAA Division I programs.
