DICKINSON, ND – In his final meet before championship season,
Astley Davis posted one of the nation's top long jump marks of the season at the Dickinson State University Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 5. Overall the Marauders won three events on the day.
Davis moved into the top slot in the long jump at the Last Chance Meet on his fifth attempt of the day. The sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, then crushed the field with his sixth and final effort in the event, exploding for a mark of 7.49 meters. His NCAA provisional qualifying mark ranks him ninth in the nation. Davis latter placed third in the triple jump (13.71 meters).
Aaron Davis claimed victory in the triple jump. The junior from New Brighton, MN, saved his best mark of the day for last. On his sixth and final effort, Davis ascended to the top of the leaderboard with a mark of 14.53 meters.
Isaac Watson won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.40 meters on his second attempt at that height to tie for the day's top mark.
Drew Olson led a strong Marauders effort in the sprints. Olson and
Ethan Decker went 2-3 in the 100 meter dash. Olson crossed the finish line in 10.999 seconds with Decker right behind at 11.06 seconds.
Jorgen Paulson edged past Olson in the 200 as the UMary teammates finished 2-3. Paulson posted a clocking of 22.09 seconds while Olson turned in a time of 22.14 seconds.

After a small contingent of Marauders compete at the Occidental Invite in Los Angeles, CA, on Saturday, May 7, the University of Mary turns its focus on the Northern Sun Outdoor Track & Field Championships slated for May 12-14 in Aberdeen, SD.
