BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary women's basketball team (12-14, 6-11 Northern Sun) competes in their final two games of the 2021-22 regular season. UMary travels to Moorhead, MN, to compete against Minnesota State University Moorhead on Thursday, February 17, at 5:30 pm. The Marauders then return home to host Northern State University on Saturday, February 19, at 2 pm.
UMary is 13
th in the NSIC and tied for sixth in the NSIC North.
Cancer Awareness Game
The UMary basketball "Cancer Awareness Game Celebrating Mia" is set for Saturday, February 19. The Marauders women's team will wear pink UMary Fighting for a Cause game jerseys that will be auctioned off during the men's and women's basketball doubleheader. Proceeds from the auction will go to a college fund for Mia and the Marauders Armada.
The minimum bid for a Fighting for a Cause jersey is $100. Fans can also purchase a jersey outright for $250. For fans wishing to place a bid on a jersey, submit your dollar amount and jersey number via email to MAevent@umary.edu and you will receive an email back letting you know where you are in the bidding process.
Senior Day
Macy Williams competes in her final regular-season home game against Northern State University, February 19, at 2:00 pm. Williams will be honored for her contributions to the University of Mary women's basketball program. Competing at UMary for five years, Williams ranks second in all-time assists at UMary with 444. She also ranks 18
th all-time in scoring (1,109 points) and seventh in steals (95). Williams will be honored at halftime during the men's basketball game against NSU.
NSIC Playoffs
UMary is currently tied for sixth place in the NSIC North Standings as Minot State University (6-11 NSIC) owns the tiebreaker after defeating UMary 85-71 at Minot, ND. The top two seeds in each division will receive a first-round bye in the NSIC playoffs. The third and fourth seeds will host the fifth and sixth seeds of the opposite division in the first round of the tournament.
The Marauders enter the weekend with a chance to clinch the fourth seed or miss out on the playoffs entirely. If UMary defeats NSU and MSU-Moorhead, they are guaranteed to make the playoffs. If NSU were to lose both of their games and MSU-Moorhead were to defeat Minot State, the Marauders would earn the fourth seed and host a playoff game. In the case of UMary losing both games, the Marauders would miss out on the playoffs.

About The Opposition
Minnesota State University Moorhead is 7-13 overall and 6-10 in the Northern Sun. MSU-Moorhead is 10
th in the NSIC and fifth in the NSIC North. The Marauders defeated the Dragons 84-49 at home earlier in the season. Junior center Payton Boom leads MSU-Moorhead in points per game (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). Junior guard Natalie Steichen leads the Dragons in assists, averaging 3.7 assists per game.
Northern State University has a record of 11-13 overall and 8-11 in the NSUC. NSU sits in fifth place in the Northern Sun and fourth in the NSIC North. The Marauders were defeated by the Wolves 66-59 earlier in the season. Leading NSU in scoring is sophomore forward Kailee Oliverson, who averages 15.8 ppg. Junior forward Laurie Rogers leads the Wolves in rebounding with 7.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Rianna Fillipi leads the team in assists as she averages 4.4 assists per game.
Last Time Out
The Marauders split their last road games. UMary would lose a close game to Winona State University 68-64 before coming back and winning 73-60 over Upper Iowa University.
Lexie Schneider put up 18 points while securing five rebounds against WSU. Rylie Wacha posted a double-double against UIU, scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
Megan Voit led the team in scoring against the Peacocks as she dropped 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
Macy Williams moved to second all-time in assists at the University of Mary. Williams scored 15 points while dishing out six assists against UIU. She now has 441 career assists surpassing Renae Amundson, who had 438.

Rick Neumann is fourth all-time in coaching wins at UMary with 145. In his ninth season, he has a record of 145-132`. Hall of Fame coach Roger Haug is the Marauders all-time leader in wins (234), followed by Fred Fridley (170), Cal Collins (150) and Neumann (145).
UMary brought in two assistant coaches
Brooke LeMar and
Chloe Wanink for the 2020-21 season. LeMar was a two-time all-conference after spending her collegiate career at NCAA Division I North Dakota State University. She then went on to play professionally in several countries including Denmark, Germany, Australia and Sweden. LeMar worked as the Director of Player Development at the California Baptist University.
Wanink was a four-year all-conference performer at NCAA Division I Wofford University. She was a three-year captain at Wofford and led the Southern Conference in scoring her junior season averaging 21 points per game. She was named the 2019-20 SoCon Preseason Player of the Year and was named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard watchlist.
