BISMARCK, ND – All-American's Arianna Passeri and Alyssa Becker were joined by A'Lena Chaney in compiling national qualifying marks in the first meet of the season for the University of Mary women's indoor track & field team as they competed at home in the Marauders Opener.
 
Passeri had a huge effort in the long jump, exploding for a mark of 5.93 meters. That mark currently ranks her fifth in the nation.
 
Additionally Passeri won the 60 meter dash with a clocking of She placed second in the triple jump with a top leap of 10.52 meters on her first and final attempt of the day.
 
Back home after competing at the NCAA Division II cross country championships, Becker put on a show in the 5000 meter run. The sophomore All-American was timed in 17:22.73, over 69 seconds better than her fastest teammate. Adjusted to 17:14.81 due to the size of the UMary track, Becker owns the 11^th best time nationally.
 
Chaney was spectacular on the 60 meter hurdles. She breezed over the barriers in an exhilarating time of 8.72 seconds in the preliminaries, which was the best time of the day. Her time currently ranks 11^th in NCAA Division II. She later finished second in the long jump (5.51 meters).
 
Several other Marauders also had top marks on the day in the seven team meet:

• Morgan Hertz won the 400 meter dash in 58.67 seconds and was second in the 200 meter dash (25.91 seconds)
• Danalee Brock (1:40.26) narrowly edged teammate Grace Acheson (1:40.77) in the 600
• Kiran Green won the mile in 5:11.41
• Antonia Genet tied for the top height in the high jump (1.55 meters) and claimed second
• Taylor Weidner finished with the top mark in the triple jump (10.75 meters)

 
After some down time for final exams and Christmas, UMary returns to action January 14 when the Marauders host the Mike Thorson Open.
