Gavin Argent shot three of the University of Mary's top five rounds at the Newman Invitational to lead the Marauders efforts in their final outing of the fall season.
After firing back-to-back scores of 79 on the first two rounds at the Sand Creek Golf Course, Argent closed strong with a 74 in the third round. It was the best round for a UMary golfer at the tournament. Argent's 3-round score of 232 led the Marauders and he finished tied for 35
th in the 16-team, 85-golfer match. He finished 18
th in pars with 33 and was 12
th in par 3 scoring at +1.
Alex Wilson placed second among the Marauders and 62
nd overall with a final tally of 240. He fired rounds of 79, 83 and 78. His final round equaled the 2
nd best score by a UMary golfer. Wilson was only one of ten competitors that posted an eagle.
Cody Brunner checked in third (78-80-87 | 245), followed by
Tyce Halter (85-83-83 | 251) and
Logan Barrett (86-88-84 | 258).
The Marauders third round was the best, closing with a 319 after shooting a 321 and a 325 on the first two rounds. UMary finished with a score of 965 to place 14
th overall
UMary will return to action in the spring.
