Carmichael sisters lead Marauders to 3rd at USF Invitational

LARCHWOOD, IA – A pair of strong performances by sisters Kaleigh and Carrie Carmichael earned the University of Mary a third place finish at the USF Invitational.
 
In a close match between the two siblings, the older sister prevailed. Kaleigh, last week's Northern Sun Golfer of the Week, had another strong performance. After shooting an 88 on day one, the Williston, ND, native posted an 85 on day two, jumping eight slots from the end of round one to place seventh with a 2-day total of 173.
 
Just one stroke back of Kaleigh, Carrie Carmichael finished in 9th place. The freshman opened with an 86 on Monday and wrapped with an 88 for a total score of 174.
 
Right behind was Emily St. Aubin. With rounds of 86 and 91, she placed 12th with a 177.
 
Abby Thelen rounded out the Marauders team scoring with a 183, firing rounds of 86 and 97 to place 16th. Alli Hulst finished with rounds of 90 and 98 for a 188.
 
UMary claimed 3rd of out five in the team standings. The Marauders finished with a score of 707 at the Grand Falls Golf Course after they opened the two-round meet with a round of 346 before closing with a 361. Host University of Sioux Falls posted a 698 to win the tournament with Dakota Wesleyan second at 703. The University of Jamestown was right behind UMary at 708 and Minot State concluded the team scoring with a 738.  
 
The Marauders close out their fall schedule October 17-18 at the Midwest Classic in Maryville, MO.
