JAMESTOWN, ND – University of Mary women's golf standout sophomore
Annie Neva earned her first career victory at the UJ Fall Invite, winning by two strokes. The meet was an 18-hole, one-round individual tournament at the Jamestown Country Club.
Neva was in a tight race against Jamestown's Kacie Rexin and Celi Nelson after 15 holes, going into the 16
th with a score of five strokes over par. Rexin was ahead at three over par, and Nelson was one stroke behind Neva.
Neva went on to birdie the final three holes, including a chip-in on hole 18 to solidify the victory with a final tally of 74 (+2) as Rexin and Nelson both finished at 76 (+4). The sophomore's day included an eagle on the par-5 10
th hole.
Carrie Carmichael placed 5
th with an 83 (+11). Freshmen
Sydney Miller and
Demi Bolin also secured top-10 finishes. Miller placed 7
th at 84 (+12) and Bolin finished in 9
th at 86 (+14).
The Marauders will be heading to Montana after the weekend, taking part in the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by MSU-Billings. The tournament will take place at Lake Hills Golf Course in Billings, MT, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6 and 7.
