GRAND FORKS, ND –
Isaac Watson claimed the lone event win for the University of Mary men's indoor track & field team at the University of North Dakota Open to lead another strong day for the Marauder.
Despite not competing with their full squad, the Marauders claimed 5
th out of ten teams, including a pair of NCAA Division I squads. UMary totaled 39 team points on the day.
A freshman from Mandan, ND, in his second collegiate meet, Watson cleared the bar at 4.50 meters to win the event. He improved his finish from a week ago by .05 meters (1.75").
The Marauders had a strong showing in the pole vault as All-Northern Sun performer
Dillan Kovash finished third after posting a top height of 4.20 meters.
UMary grabbed three of the top six finishes in the long jump.
Hayden Von Wald placed third with a top mark of 6.57 meters.
Astley Davis was right behind in 4
th (6.56 meters) and
Isaiah Richards cleared 6.32 meters to finish 6
th.
The Marauders bested their long jump performance in the triple jump as UMary posted three of the best five marks on the day.
Alex Brown launched himself into third with a top effort of 13.40 meters. Richards claimed 4
th (13.07 meters) and Von Wald was 5
th (12.39 meters).
Alex Garber (8:59.63),
Isaac Anderson (9:03.09) and
Iver Phillips (9:04.06) finished 4-5-6 in the 3000 meter run.
Trey Haugen finished with a top throw of 14.77 meters to place 4
th in the shot put. He added a 7
th place finish in the weight throw (13.27 meters).
Drew Olson blazed his way to 5
th place in the 60 meter dash (7.09 seconds) out of a field of 37 runners.
The Marauders next compete at the Bison Open on February 4-5 in Fargo, ND.
