BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary wrestling team (7-1, 1-1 Northern Sun) returns to the mats at the McDowell Activity Center as they take on Southwest Minnesota State University (1-2, 1-2 NSIC) on Friday, January 28, at 7 pm. UMary then hosts Minnesota State University – Mankato (0-1, 0-1 NSIC) on Saturday, January 29, at 2 pm.

Senior and Alumni Day
On Saturday the Marauders celebrate Senior and Alumni Day in their dual against Minnesota State University at 2 pm.
 
National Rankings
UMary is ranked 20^th according to the most recent NWCA Division II Regular Season Poll. The Marauders have four wrestlers that are nationally ranked.
 
Reece Barnhardt is ranked eighth in the 133-pound weight class. Braydon Huber is ranked tenth for the 157-pound weight class. Matthew Kaylor is ranked tenth for the 197-pound weight class. Max Bruss is ranked ninth in the 174-pound weight class. Bruss ranks 8^th for pinfalls in NCAA Division II.
 
Last Time Out
The Marauders dropped their first dual of the season in an exciting contest to #8 University of Wisconsin – Parkside.
 
Gerardo Jaime (285) earned UMary's first victory in the dual as he would grind out a 1-0 decision over Nate Lloyd. #8 Reece Barnhardt (133) would showcase why he is a nationally ranked wrestler as Barnhardt would pin Joey Roti at the 2:10 mark.
 
Laken Boese (141) put in an impressive performance as he took home an 8-3 decision victory over Cayden Henschel. #10 Braydon Huber (157) wrapped up the dual for the Marauders, earning UMary four points by defeating Ben Durocher via an 8-0 major decision.
 
About the Opposition
Southwest Minnesota State University is ranked 21^st according to the NWCA Regular Season Poll. Caden Steffen is ranked 4^th for the 184-pound weight class.
 
Minnesota State University – Mankato is ranked 17^th. MSU has three wrestlers that are nationally ranked. Trenton McManus (125 lbs) is ranked 10^th. Kyle Rathman (149 lbs) is ranked 5^th. Trevor Turriff (174 lbs) is ranked 8^th. Darrell Mason (285 lbs) is ranked 10^th.

Returners
Coming off an All-American season last year, Braydon Huber was named the University of Mary wrestling team's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Athlete to Watch. Huber earned All-Conference honors after finishing eighth in the NCAA Championships at 165 pounds.
 
Max Bruss also qualified for the NCAA Championships at 174 pounds but fell just short of All-American status, losing two matches by just one point.
 
Other notable returners include Dom Tudor and Matthew Kaylor, who both placed at the NCAA Division II Super Regional V tournament.
 
New Faces
The Marauders bring in eight freshmen who will look to make an immediate impact in the 2021-22 season. Those nine include Reece Barnhardt, Chase Milligan, Preston Owens, Dante Roggio, Roddy Romero III, Ryan Scherber, Wyatt Schneider and Luke Tweeton.
