BISMARCK, ND –
Gavin Argent set a school-record for the lowest scoring round as the University of Mary men's golf team took home second place in the final day of the UMary Invitational.
Augustana (+18) took home a first-place finish, followed by UMary (+25) Augustana University B (+46), Alexandria Technical Community College (+66) and Valley City State University (+63).
"Our players are good and they need to know that. We didn't have enough on day two to get the win, but we made huge improvements," head coach
Michael Herzog said.
Gavin Argent had a phenomenal day as the freshman shot a school-record 69, which put him in second place. Argent had a total score of 147 over the two days.
Cody Brunner finished in third place after shooting a 77 on the final day, giving him a total score of 148.
Coming in at a tie for fourth was
Benett Persoon, who shot a 72 on the day. Persoon shot a 149 for the invitational.
Alex Wilson placed 14
th after shooting 85 on the second day. The sophomore completed the tournament with a 158 score.
Isaac Flicker finished in a tie for 17
th after shooting a 77. Flicker finished the tournament with a score of 162.
Coming in a tie for 20
th was
Jackson Gilchrist, who shot an 81 on day two, giving him a total score of 165.
Rounding out the Marauders lineup was
Logan Barrett. Barrett finished the tournament with a 171 score, which put him in 23rd place.
This tournament wraps up the fall season for the Marauders.
