ATLANTA, GA – The University of Mary women's basketball team was recognized for their incredible achievements inside the classroom as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its 2020-21 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls.
"I'm proud of the dedication our ladies have to excel in the classroom. They understand we have high academic standards in our program and it's great to see their efforts rewarded with this national honor from the WBCA," said head coach
Rick Neumann.
The Marauders ranked 16
th among NCAA Division II programs as the team had a combined GPA of 3.673. UMary had nine student-athletes earn Northern Sun All-Academic honors this season.
"When you factor in all the practice and training requirements, coupled with the extreme travel our squad undertakes during the season, this is truly an extraordinary accomplishment. Credit also goes to our UMary faculty who strive to work with our athletes as they balance all these demands," Neumann said.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2020-21 season is the 26
th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
