BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary softball looks to finish the season strong as they will compete in the last four games of the season on the road. UMary's road trip starts in Crookston, MN, as the Marauders take on the University of Minnesota Crookston in a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, May 8. UMary then competes in a doubleheader against Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN, on Sunday, May 9, starting at 12 noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders split their home series on Saturday against Upper Iowa University as UMary lost the first game 5-2 and won the second game 8-4. Mikaela Pelesauma went 2-for-4 with a team-leading four RBI in the second game against UIU.
The Marauders were then swept in their doubleheader against #20 Winona State University on Sunday.
RECORD
UMary enters Saturday with a 7-30 record and a 6-18 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference which places them in 12th place.

OPPO RESEARCH – University of Minnesota Crookston
UMC is 8-20 on the year with a 4-20 record in the conference which puts them in 16th place. Sophomore infielder Dana Zarn leads the Golden Eagles in hits (38), batting average (.339), home runs (3), RBIs (14), on-base percentage (.419), slugging percentage (.455) and OPS (.874). Senior Katie Humhej is UMC's leading pitcher as she has a 3.09 ERA and has struck out 115 batters in 102 innings. Travis Owen is in his third season at UMC and has amassed a 27-71 record over that time.
OPPO RESEARCH – Bemidji State University
BSU is 10-28 and 6-18 in the NSIC. The Beavers currently sit in 12th place in the NSIC. Senior catcher Lexi Derrick leads the Beavers in home runs (4), RBIs (19), slugging percentage (.435) and OPS (.796). Senior pitcher Stephi Dullum leads BSU with six wins and has a 4.05 ERA after striking out 77 hitters in 93.1 innings. Brittany Gomez Olson enters her second season in charge of the Beavers softball program and has gone 20-40 over that span.

- Mariah Sanchez leads the team with 34 hits as she has a .288 batting average and a .364 on-base percentage. She also is slugging .381 and has an OPS of 720.
- Eryn De Jonge is second on the team with 34 hits and currently has a .291 batting average.
- Kaylee Kannegiesser is first on the team with 18 RBIs and has a .283 batting average with two home runs.

- Brooke De Jonge has 23 hits in her first season as a Marauder and is batting .277.

UMARY ROSTER RUNDOWN
The Marauders bring back several big bats from last year, such as senior catcher/outfielder Rachael Laetsch who returns to the Marauders after having an on-base percentage of .435 and led the team with 10 walks. Last season Laetsch made no errors behind the plate and had 10 assists with 59 putouts.
Senior first basemen Kasidy Chileen has been a starter since her freshmen year for UMary. She hit .320 and drove in 33 runs in 2019. Other returning starters include Mariah Sanchez, Haley Berube and Mikaela Pelesauma.
To bolster the lineup, Roan brought in five new freshmen to the team. The freshmen include Brooke DeJonge, Levi Luna, Nichole Eckhardt, Alissa Alvarado and Mackenzie Reinhardt.
