SCHEDULE UPDATE
The University of Mary home softball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, April 10, against St. Cloud State University is cancelled due to SCSU COVID-19 testing protocols. Per Northern Sun rules the two games will not be rescheduled.
THIS WEEKEND
The University of Mary softball team will host their first home games of the season as UMary will take on the University of Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, April 11, beginning at 1 pm at the University of Mary Softball Field. The Marauders were originally scheduled to play St. Cloud State University on Saturday at 1 pm but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 policies.
HOME GAME SPECTATOR POLICY
University of Mary softball games are closed to the public. Guests will only be admitted to the games if they are on the Family & Friends list submitted by the Marauders softball program or the Visiting Fans list determined by the opposing head coach.
UMary student-athletes and coaches are allowed to distribute a limited number of will-call passes to family members and fans. Individuals must be on the pass list to be admitted into the game. For visiting teams, a limited number of will-call passes are available to the visiting team with distribution determined by the opposing head coach. Masking is required for all spectators in attendance regardless of state and local guidance. Additionally, fans must follow all Covid-19 safety, sanitation, and social distancing guidelines.

LAST TIME OUT
UMary lost two close games as the Marauders lost late leads in both games of their doubleheader at Northern State University. The Marauders fell 6-5 in game one and 6-4 in game two.
LAST HOME GAME
When the Marauders take to the field on Sunday against the Bulldogs, it will have been 718 days since UMary has played on campus. With the premature conclusion of the 2020 softball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the last time the Marauders softball team played at the University of Mary Softball Field was April 24, 2019, when UMary swept a doubleheader from Bemidji State.

UMary enters Sunday's games with a 2-19 record and a 1-7 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

OPPO RESEARCH – University of Minnesota Duluth
The University of Minnesota Duluth is 16-6 and 6-2 in the conference this season. Last season UMD went 9-12 before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. Senior first basemen Jordyn Thomas has been great for the Bulldogs as she is batting .422 with six home runs and 24 RBIs. Lauren Oberle leads the team in on-base percentage which stands at .546 and batting average at .441. Junior pitcher Sam Pederson has a 5-1 record with a 2.04 ERA. Jen Walter enters her sixth season as the Bulldogs head coach and has amassed a 163-81 record over that time.

STATS TO WATCH
- Mariah Sanchez leads the team with 25 hits as she has a .352 batting average and a .403 on-base percentage. She also is slugging .408 and has an OPS of 811.
- Eryn deJonge is second on the team with 18 hits and currently has a .327 batting average.
- Devyn Ritz is hitting .313 on the year and has an 833 OPS.
- Rachael Laetsch leads the team with two home runs, 8 RBIs and an OPS of 702.
- Brooke DeJonge has 16 hits in her first season as a Marauder and batting .291.
- Alissa Alvarado has struck out 29 hitters in 50 innings and has a 5.76 ERA.
UMARY ROSTER RUNDOWN
The Marauders bring back several big bats from last year, such as senior catcher/outfielder Rachael Laetsch who returns to the Marauders after having an on-base percentage of .435 and led the team with 10 walks. Last season Laetsch made no errors behind the plate and had 10 assists with 59 putouts.
Senior first basemen Kasidy Chileen has been a starter since her freshmen year for UMary. She hit .320 and drove in 33 runs in 2019. Other returning starters include Mariah Sanchez, Haley Berube and Mikaela Pelesauma.
To bolster the lineup, Roan brought in five new freshmen to the team. The freshmen include Brooke De Jonge, Levi Luna, Nichole Eckhardt, Alissa Alvarado and Mackenzie Reinhardt.
