Box Score 2 MINOT, ND – Despite big games from Kasidy Chileen and Mariah Sanchez, the University of Mary softball team got off to a bumpy start to start their 2021 season as the Marauders were swept in a double-header at Minot State University. UMary lost game one to MSU 10-5 and game two 11-0.
GAME 1 University of Mary 5 Minot State 10
The Marauders took a 4-1 lead after the top of the second inning. Leni Luna knocked in Madelyn Trout to give UMary the first run. Eryn De Jonge followed up with a double to right center to score Haley Berube. Continuing the hit parade Alissa Alvardo hit a double to left center that scored De Jonge and Luna.
PIVOT POINT
The Beavers scored four runs on four hits in the bottom of the second of the inning to give them a 5-4 lead. The Marauders were able to tie it back up in the top of third after Berube drove home Kasidy Chileen. MSU respond by scoring three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to give the Beavers a 10-5 win.

Kasidy Chileen was 2-for-3 with one run scored for the Marauders.
GAME 2 University of Mary 0 Minot State 11
The Marauders struggled to hit in the second game of the double header as UMary had only one hit and one walk.
PIVOT POINT
The Beavers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back. They would go on to score four more runs over the next four innings, winning 11-0 after five innings.
STAT OF THE GAME
Haley Berube went 1-for-2 with a double for UMary.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Marauders returns to Minot, ND as they will take on Bemidji State on Saturday, February 20, at 1 pm.
