Box Score ST. CLOUD, MN - The University of Mary women's basketball team returned to competition for the first time this season after last week's home opener was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UMary struggled on the road in its 2020-21 opener, losing to St. Cloud State University 90-54.
Senior forward
Lauren Rotunda led the way for the Marauders as she recorded a team-high in points (12), rebounds (6) and assists (3). Â Fellow senior guard
Macy Williams recorded 10 points while shooting 5-8 from the field and providing two assists on only one turnover.
Tori Wortz and Nikki Kilboten each had a team-high 15 points for the Huskies.
The Marauders fell behind early, down 20-9 after the first quarter and were unable to rally back.
UMary finished the game shooting 35.7% from the field while going 4-22 from behind the arc and 10-17 from the free-throw line. SCSU shot 54.4% from the field while shooting 7-14 from three and 21-25
from the charity stripe.
UMary had assists on 10 out of their 20 made baskets, while SCSU had 20 assists for their 31 baskets. The Marauders were outrebounded by the Huskies 42-24.
The Marauders were able to have freshmen get an opportunity to receive their first-ever NCAA playing time.

Emma Passa,
Zoe Velde,
Ella Grove and
Laykn Darras all received minutes, with Schweitzer, Ryckman and Passa scoring two points and Velde contributing one.
UMary returns to action on Saturday at 4 pm against St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, MN.
