BISMARCK, ND - University of Mary head tennis coach
Vida Saliendra, the 2019 Northern Sun Coach of the Year, announced the signings of two recruits for the Marauders 2021 incoming freshmen class. Callie McDonald and Chloe Chong both will continue their education at the University of Mary and compete for the Marauders.

Callie McDonald | Fr. | Lakeville, Minn. | Lakeville South High School
Callie McDonald received All-Conference honors in her junior and senior years and won 57 matches in her high school career. During her time at Lakeville South High School, McDonald was named team captain and won the Cougar Spirit award and the Hardest Working award. McDonald was also recognized for her efforts off the court as a member of the Nationals Honors Society and earned Academic All-State honors for tennis. She is the daughter of Amy and Patrick McDonald and has two siblings who also attend the University of Mary.

"Callie has good ball control, volleys consistently and moves well on the court," Saliendra said. "She will be a terrific fit for the team."

Chloe Chong Zhi Jing | Fr. | Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia | Sri Kuala Lumpur Secondary International School
A native of Malaysia, Chloe Chong won the Master's Junior 16U Singles Finals in 2018 and was the runner-up in the Senior Open Doubles in 2019. She was the team captain for Malaysia in the ASEAN school games in 2019, leading her country to a bronze medal. She is the daughter of Choon Hung Chong and Goh Soo Kien.

"Chloe is a solid all-around athlete," said Saliendra. "She moves well on the court, has consistent groundstrokes, volleys and serves. Her footwork is one of her assets and she has the ability to place the ball on the court. Additionally, she has lots of tournament experience. Chloe will be a tremendous addition to the team."
