UMary Softball Earns Split On Day One Of Florida Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Clermont, FL – The University of Mary softball team got things rolling at the Florida Invite with two softball games in the Sunshine State. The Marauders came out hot in the first game recording seven runs off of ten hits to bring home a 7-3 victory. The second game of the day featured half as many hits for the Marauders, with the team only putting five balls into play. UMary fell to Felician 6-3. With today's split the Marauders record is 4-6.
 
GAME 1 Kentucky Wesleyan 3 University of Mary 7
The Marauders got things rolling in dominant fashion in game one of the day. The Marauders put up runs in the second, third, and fourth inning to build a 7-1 lead. KWC attempted to make a run late in the game but it was too little too late with UMary claiming a 7-3 victory. Brieann Backes earned her third straight win, improving to 3-2 on the season.
 
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders only led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the third inning. An Emma Noble homerun got things rolling for the Marauders followed by an RBI single by Haley Berube put two runs up on the board. The Marauders totaled four runs in the fourth to extend their lead over the Panthers.
  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Haley Berube went 3-3 with 3 RBI's and a double.
 
Kaitlyn Alvarado hit a triple and scored two runs
 
Paige Matsuki went 2-3 with a double and an RBI
 
Emma Noble hit a homerun and recorded an RBI
 
Brieann Backes recorded six strikeouts on the day, earning the win.

A scoreless game through the first three innings ended up featuring a total of nine combined runs. Felician University took down the Marauders by a score of 6-3. The Marauders held a 3-0 lead at the end of four but six unanswered runs by the Golden Falcons earned them a win. Madison Jahner falls to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
 
PIVOT POINT
Nicole Spiegelberg of Felician knocked in four RBI's between the fifth and sixth inning. She was a big part of the Golden Falcons scoring six unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth inning.
 
 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Kylie Alto went 2-3 with a homerun and three RBI's
 
Paige Matsuki went 1-3 and scored a run
 
Haley Berube went 1-3 with a double
