BISMARCK, ND – A youthful University of Mary tennis team takes the court for the first time this season this Saturday and Sunday. The Marauders will host their first two meets of the season at home. UMary will first take the court against Augustana at 9 AM on Saturday, February 9. They will follow that up with a match against Sioux Falls on Sunday, February 10 at 1 PM.
The Marauders will look to
Danielle Wolf for experience leadership. Wolf is the only upperclassmen on the team this season.
Tasha Dembo will look to lead the Marauders to success in the 2019 season. The sophomore earned All-NSIC tennis singles second team in her first season at UMary. The Zimbabwe native was the first UMary freshman tennis player in five seasons named to the All-NSIC singles team. Dembo made her debut for UMary half way through the season, posting a 7-2 overall record in singles and 4-1 in NSIC play. She ranked third in the NSIC in #1 singles winning percentage. Dembo and
Eileen Leong posted a 7-2 record in #1 doubles which was good enough for the second best win percentage in the NSIC.
Sophomore
Kelsey Lajom went 5-10 in singles play and 5-11 in doubles play.
Junior
Danielle Wolf posted a 1-6 record last season and went 3-2 in doubles play.
Sophomore
Julie Donnelly went 1-5 in singles play.
Kali Askvig,
Jamie Stoppler, and
Yusra Hegy join the Marauders this season.
