BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary tennis team travels to Fargo, ND to take on Winona State and Upper Iowa this weekend. The Marauders will kick off the weekend against UIU on Friday, March 1 at 6 PM. UMary will follow that up with a match against WSU on Saturday, March 2 at 11 AM.
The Marauders come into this weekends matches with a 5-2 record, going 4-2 in NSIC play. UMary has won five of their last six matches.
Upper Iowa comes into the match against UMary with a 2-5 record, going 1-5 in NSIC matches. The Peacocks lone win comes against SCSU 4-3.
Winona State comes into the match against the Marauders with a 5-2 record. The Beavers are 5-1 in the NSIC. The Warriors had won five straight matches before losing last week to conference favorite Augustana.
The last time the Marauders took to court was for a weekend split with Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. UMary shut out UMC 7-0. The Marauders then had a very tight match with BSU, falling 4-3. The Marauders swept doubles play but only managed to win two of the six singles matches.
Tasha Dembo led the way for UMary, going 2-0 in #1 singles and 2-0 in #1 doubles teamed up with
Yusra Hegy. Her performance over the weekend earned her NSIC Player of the Week honors.
The Marauders look to continue their successful season this weekend.
