CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team heads to Florida for a week of sunshine and softball. The Marauders will participate in 12 games between March 1-8.
The Marauders open their spring trip against Kentucky Wesleyan College and Felician University on Friday, March 1, in Clermont, FL. UMary also faces Seton Hill, Bloomfield, Saint Rose, Alderson Broaddus, Stonehill, Edinboro Univ. of Pennsylvania, Notre Dame College (Ohio), Cedarville, Urbana, and Gannon.
UMary has started off the season 3-5, winning three of their last four games.
A few big bats have paced the Marauders offensively.
Sophomore second baseman
Kasidy Chileen owns a slash line of .519 / .552 / .556. A big weekend at the Minot Dome tournament earned Chileen NSIC player of the week honors.
Rebekkah Keller leads the team in hits with 15. The junior outfielder has a slash line of .441 / .457 / .529.
A freshman leads the Marauders in RBI's and homeruns.
Haley Berube has nine RBI's and two homeruns.
Kaitlyn Alvarado owns the highest slugging percentage on the team, posting a slash line of .458 / .594 / .583. She is tied for the lead on the team with three doubles.
Paige Matsuki leads the team in runs scored with 10. She boasts a slash line of .385 / .484 / .577. She is tied for the lead on the team with three doubles.
In the circle senior
Brieann Backes is 2-2. The Minot, ND, native has pitched 24.1 innings and has recorded a team high 18 strikeouts.
