UMary Women’s Basketball Heads To Oklahoma For Games Against Central Oklahoma, Northeastern State

ALVA, OK – The University of Mary women's basketball team continues with their cross country travel this week. The Marauders head to Alva, OK for a pair of games beginning with a matchup on Friday, November 8 against Central Oklahoma at noon. UMary follows that up with another noon game on Saturday, November 9 against Northeastern State.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders return to action after a 1-2 start and the CCA DII Tipoff in Los Angeles. UMary began the season by dominating their season opener 81-55 over MSU Billings. They followed that up with two extremely close matchups against Simon Fraser and #12 West Texas A&M. UMary fell to SFU in overtime by a score of 70-67. They then lost to nationally ranked WTAMU by the narrowest of margins, one point.
 
The Marauders will look to return to their winning ways against Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State both of which are opening their season this weekend.
 
ABOUT UNIVERSITY CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
Central Oklahoma concluded their 2018-19 season with a 19-12 record. The Broncos were led by a trio of scorers who averaged double figures, two of which return for this season. Micayla Haynes led the team with 12.5 PPG. Bryson Shatoya will also return for UCO after averaging 10.4 PPG last season.
 
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN STATE
Northeastern State wrapped up the 2018-19 season with a 6-22 record. Three players on the Riverhawks averaged double figures last season. Cenia Hayes is the only of the three who will return for this season. Hayes led the Riverhawks with 13.3 PPG while averaging 5.5 RPG and leading the team with 2.5 assists/game.
 
MARAUDERS STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
Cassie Askvig picked up right where she left off in the first three games of the season. The Marauders senior averaged 22.7 PPG and seven RPG while shooting 50.9 percent from the field, 40 percent from deep, and 88.9 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Coral Gillette caught fire in the first two games, combing for a total of eight three pointers in the two games. Gillette is second on the team in scoring with 11 PPG. The Marauders sharpshooter is also averaging 3.3 assists/game and has four steals and two blocks this season.
 
Lauren Rotunda has done a bit of everything for the Marauders early on this season. She is averaging 10.7 PPG, six RPG, three assists/game and has four blocks and four steals so far this season. Rotunda is shooting 46.7 percent from the field.
 
Macy Williams comes into this weekend averaging nine PPG and three assists/game. The Marauders point guard is shooting 50 percent from deep early on this season. Williams played her best game of the season against #12 West Texas A&M, recording 14 points and four assists against the Buffs.
