UMary Women’s Basketball Set To Host Three Home Games This Week

THIS WEEK
The University of Mary women's basketball team has a busy week ahead, getting the opportunity to play on the home court for the first three times this season. The Marauders take on Presentation College on Tuesday, November 12 at 6 PM in the McDowell Activity Center to open up home play. They will then host Dickinson State on Thursday, November 14 and Mayville State on Saturday, November 16. Both matchups will be at 6 PM.

 
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the court was for a pair of games in Alva, Oklahoma. The Marauders split the two games, falling to Central Oklahoma and taking down Northeastern State. Lexie Schneider would shine during the two games, averaging 14.5 PPG and 15.5 RPG while posting career highs of 15 points and 18 rebounds against Northeastern State. Cassie Askvig had a big 20 point performance against Central Oklahoma.

 
THE RECORD
The Marauders come into the weekend with a 2-3 record.

 
OPPO RESEARCH – PRESENTATION COLLEGE
Presentation College comes into the matchup with the Marauders with a 1-5 record. The team is 1-0 at home but 0-2 on the road and 0-3 in neutral site matchups. The team is led by Aimee Campbell who leads the team in both points and rebounds. Campbell averages 17.4 PPG and 14 RPG. Leannah Vitalis is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13 PPG and 7.4 RPG.
 
LAST MATCHUP
The last time the Marauders and Saints met up was during the 2017-18 season when UMary took down PC 82-51. Lauren Rotunda dominated the game for UMary, recording 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Cassie Askvig had eight points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.

 
OPPO RESEARCH – DICKINSON STATE
Dickinson State comes into the matchup with UMary with a 1-2 record. The Blue Hawks started the season with a win before dropping the following two games. In their matchup against Jamestown, Sydney Clark led the team with 22 points, Ashlie Larson pitched in 15. Dakota Dosch led the team with 13 rebounds.
 
LAST MATCHUP
The last time the Marauders and Blue Hawks met up was during the 2017-18 season when UMary took down Dickinson State 87-47. Cassie Askvig had 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists during the game. Lauren Rotunda pitched in seven points, four rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and a block.
 
OPPO RESEARCH – MAYVILLE STATE
Mayville State comes into the game against the Marauders with a 5-1 record. The only loss of the season for the Comets came at the hands of #17 Saint Xavier. Three athletes are averaging double figures for the comets. Claire Balscziek is leading the team with 15.8 PPG. Kylee Heurung averages a double-double 14.5 PPG and 10.2 RPG. Nicole Bunting is third on the team with 12.3 PPG.



  
GETTING BUCKETS
UMary is seventh in the Northern Sun in points per game averaging 65.6. The Marauders have a plus 5.2 scoring margin over the opponents which ranks fifth in the Northern Sun. Cassie Askvig is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 20 PPG. The Marauders rank sixth in the conference in field goal percentage (40.4). Askvig ranks eighth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 48.8 percent.
 
A HELPING PASS
The Marauders sure know how to share the ball. The team ranks fifth in the conference in assists, averaging 13 assists per game. Macy Williams ranks seventh in the conference averaging 3.2 assists per game. She ranks tenth in the NSIC in assists/turnover ratio. Coral Gillette ranks 16th with 2.6 assists per game. Rotunda ranks tied for 20th with 2.4 assists per game.

 
DEEEE-FENSE
The Marauders allow just 60.4 points/game, fifth in the NSIC. Teams are making just 38.9 percent of their shots against UMary, ranking them eighth in the conference in field goal percentage defense.
 
REJECTION
The Marauders are eleventh in the NSIC in blocked shots at 2.4/game. Lauren Rotunda is 23rd in the NSIC with 0.8 blocks/game.
 
THIEVERY
UMary averages 6.8 steals per game this season, ranking them ninth in the Northern Sun. Christal Hearn leads the team with 2.2 steals a game, ranking sixth in the conference. Lauren Rotunda comes in, in 16th in the NSIC in steals with 1.6 per game.
 
DOWNTOWN
Averaging 6.2 treys/game, the Marauders rank fourth in the NSIC. Shooting 28.2 percent from behind the arc, UMary is fifth in the conference in three point shooting percentage. Coral Gillette is ninth in the conference averaging 2.2 three pointers per game. Askvig ranks 13th with 1.6/game.
 
CHARITY STRIPE
Shooting 68.8 percent from the free throw line as a team this season the Marauders rank seventh in the NSIC. Lexie Schneider shoots 68.4 percent from the free throw line, ranking her 16th in the conference.
 
CRASHING THE GLASS
The Marauders rank third in the NSIC in offensive rebounds, grabbing 12.6 per game. UMary ranks sixth in rebounding margin with a plus 3.2 RPG average. Two Marauders rank in the top ten in the conference in rebounds per game. Schneider ranks second, averaging 9.6 RPG. Right behind her in tenth is Rotunda who averages 7.4 RPG.

LIVING UP TO EXPECTATIONS
Coming into the season as defending NSIC player of the year the expectations are high for senior Cassie Askvig and she is living up to those expectations. The Marauders senior is averaging 20 PPG and 6.6 RPG early on this season.
