CROOKSTON, MINN – The University of Mary volleyball team continued onto Crookston, Minnesota for their weekend road trip to battle the teams of northern Minnesota. The Marauders were never able to find their stride against the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles, falling in three straight sets (25-11, 25-16, 25-9).
 
With the loss the Marauders fall to 3-12 on the season and 0-7 in NSIC play.
 
The Marauders kept it close in the beginning of the first set at five points apiece. The Golden Eagles then ran off 13 unanswered points behind the serving of Callie Schapekahm to pull away 18-5 before eventually winning the set 25-11.
 
In the second set the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 9-1 lead. The Marauders battled back to get the match within four points but that was as close as UMary would get with the Golden Eagles taking the set 25-16.
 
With momentum on the side the Golden Eagles took control early in the third set and never looked back, spreading the point differential more and more before eventually taking the set 25-9.
 
Katja Berge lead the team with five kills while 
Natalia Cruz recorded an additional four.
 
The Marauders return home next weekend for two matches. UMary hosts Upper Iowa at 6 pm on Friday, September 28. They will follow that up with a match on Saturday, September 29 at 11 am against Winona State University.
