BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team returned home today to take on the Upper Iowa University Peacocks. The Marauders were never able to get things rolling against the Peacocks, falling in three straight sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-9).

With the loss the Marauders fall to 3-13 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. Upper Iowa is 10-6 and 3-5. 

The Marauders fell behind early and could never get things going in the first set. Any time the Marauders would get a point, the Peacocks would answer with several. The Marauders dropped the set 25-9.

The Marauders made the second set competitive early, pulling even at 12-12, but the Peacocks went on a 13-2 run to close out a 25-14 win.

The third set was all Peacocks as they jumped out to a double digit lead early in the match and never looked back, taking the final set 25-9 to sweep the match.

Natalia Cruz lead the Marauders with four kills with Katja Berge adding three others. Geovana Almeida posted a game high with 11 digs.

Five Peacocks had at least four kills. 

The Marauders are back at it tomorrow morning against Winona State. They will play at the MAC at 11 am.
