Box Score ORLANDO, FL – An impressive effort in doubles and a clean sweep in singles led the University of Mary tennis team to their second straight shutout. Facing Northwestern (IA) College in a non-conference neutral site match in Orlando, FL, the Marauders rolled over the Red Raiders 9-0.
UMary opened its spring trip Tuesday with an identical 9-0 win over Morningside. The Marauders evened their season record to 4-4.
Competing as a doubles team for just the second time,
Tasha Dembo and
Eileen Leong posted a dominant 8-1 victory at #1 doubles.
The Marauders other two teamups also performed impressively.
Lucia Bolibruch and
Kelsey Lajom paired up for an 8-2 win and
Lisa Anderson and
Danielle Wolf outdueled their opponents 8-1.
Singles play also went impressively for the Marauders. Dembo led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 shellacking of Zoe Holscher in the #1 match.
The Marauders posted comfortable wins at #2 and #2 singles as Bolibruch gained a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jacque Ingram and Lajom inverted the opponent's score in a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Leong also finished the day undefeated with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Emma VanDrie.
Playing just singles, both senior
Cristina Bremar and freshman
Emily Bichler posted wins. Bremar earned the #5 singles win with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win while Bichler claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
After facing a pair of NAIA foes the past two days, the Marauders return to NCAA Division II competition when UMary faces Cederville on Thursday, March 8, in Orlando.
