1st UMary Marauders Indoor Track & Field Festival set for Saturday

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's and women's track & field teams open their seasons this weekend when the Marauders host a collegiate meet inside the UMary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center on Saturday, Dec. 8. Field events begin at 11 am with field events. Track events begin at noon.

In addition to UMary, Dickinson State University and Minot State University will compete in the Marauders Indoor Track & Field Festival.

The Marauders women's team is the preseason favorite to add another Northern Sun indoor title to the six they already possess. UMary, the defending conference indoor and outdoor champion, placed fourth in the country last winter in the NCAA indoor championships.

The UMary men's team is projected to finish second in the NSIC. The Marauders men's team placed second at both the indoor and outdoor conference meets. Luxon Glor was the conference high point scorer indoors and has won consecutive 60 meter dash titles. Fellow senior Josh Lamers was the nation's runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA outdoor championships.

The University of Mary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center opened in January 2017. The 80,000 square-foot building features a 200 meter Mondo track.

This is the lone meet for the Marauders before the end of the calendar year. UMary won't return to action until January 12, 2019.

Admission to the first UMary Marauders Indoor Track & Field Festival is $10 for adults and $5 for children 13-18. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
