DULUTH, MN – The University of Mary volleyball team headed out for their final road trip of the season this weekend. UMary took on Minnesota Duluth to open the weekend. The nations #4 team proved to be a handful for the Marauders downing them in three straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-16). The Marauders recorded seven blocks and five aces as a team during the match.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 4-23 on the season and 1-18 in conference play. UMD improved to 23-5 overall and 16-3 in NSIC play.
The Bulldogs posted an impressive .680 hitting percentage in the first set to take the set. UMary fell behind 9-2 early and never could bounce back. UMD rallied six straight points together to close out the set 25-12.
The Marauders fell behind 20-8 in the second set. They strung some points together in an attempt to come back but it was too little too late and UMary dropped the set 25-12.
UMary kept things close in the third set with the attempt to take a set from the national powerhouse. The Bulldogs flexed their muscles and put their foot on the gas at the end to take down the Marauders 25-16 to sweep the match.

Brittany Brusven not only lead the team in assists (6) but in blocks as well. The 5-9 freshman recorded a game high of four blocks. She added two kills to her stat line for the day.
Anna Nietfeld set a game high with two aces to go along with her three kills. Those kills put her above the 100 kill mark on the season.
Morgan Schnabel led all Marauders with seven digs.
The University of Mary will close out their season tomorrow at 2 pm against St. Cloud State.
