BISMARCK, ND – For the first time since the current University of Mary men's soccer players were in preschool, the Marauders will play games on campus. UMary hosts MSU Billings on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 5:15 pm and Upper Iowa University on Monday, Sept. 18, at noon.
The last time the Marauders played games on campus was 17 years ago during the 2000 season when current UMary head coach
Dave Cook was a freshman on the soccer team.
The games will be played on the pitch on the north side of campus, below Boyle Hall, behind the new Fieldhouse and Wellness Center and adjacent to Hegeholz Field.
Festivities are anticipated prior to Thursday's game. Additionally, Marauders athletics will grill complimentary food for fans beginning at 11 am for Monday's midday start.
Fans are encouraged to bring blankets and sit on the hill overlooking the field.
No admission will be charged for the games.
Additionally UMary will host a game between MSU Billings and Upper Iowa at 3 pm on Saturday, Sept. 16.
The 2000 men's soccer season may have been the last time any fall competitions were played outdoors on the UMary campus in any sport. Marauders softball is the only outdoor program to regularly play their home games on campus. Baseball has also played an occasional game on campus.
