Myers sets school record in 5,000 to open California excursion

LOS ANGELES AND AZUSA, CA – Derek Myers set a school record and Luxon Glor posted another NCAA qualifying time as the University of Mary men's track teammates took full advantage of competing in California.
 
Racing in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, CA, Myers broke the best time in school history in the 5,000 meter run, blistering the track with a clocking of 14:37.91. Myers placed seventh in his heat and now owns the top time in the Northern Sun. He missed the NCAA provisional qualifying standards by .47 seconds. The previous UMary record was 14:41.00 by Chris Jessop in 2015.
 
Glor sprinted his way to a time of 10.57 seconds in the 100 meter dash. The NCAA provisional clocking is the top time in the NSIC this season. Glor also placed second in the long jump with a top effort of 7.02 meters.
