Thayna Silva finished with 13 kills and eight digs but the University of Mary couldn't close sets as No. 7 Augustana beat the Marauders, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22 and 27-25) in a Northern Sun match Friday, Nov. 4.

The Vikings (23-4, 14-3 NSIC) outhit the Marauders .257 to .167 and received double-digit kills from Courtney Place and Bailey Koch to secure its 14 NSIC win of the season.

Lauren Randall finished with seven kills and 13 digs while teammate
Freddie Campbell collected six kills on a .500 hitting performance.

Mary (9-17, 4-13 NSIC) had leads in the final two sets and hit a team-high .220 in the third set but couldn't hold off the Vikings comebacks.

The Marauders had a 17-10 lead late in the second set but Vikings scored 10 straight points to pull ahead, 20-17 in the set and eventually took the set victory, 25-22.

It was a back-and-forth final set and the Marauders trailed 14-12 in the middle of the set but rattled off three straight points to take a 15-14 lead. Marauders took a late 24-23 lead but the Vikings scored four of the last set points to take the set and eventually match.

Geovana Almeida finished the match with 10 digs for the Marauders as teammate
Janell Finkbeiner added five digs and collected 27 assists.

Mary hasn't won a set since Oct. 21 against Minnesota State Mankato and is currently on a five match losing streak.

The Marauders will get a chance to break that streak against No. 8 Wayne State Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. on Senior Day.
